using this ask as an excuse to talk about my interpretation of blueberror.

his name is blazar and instead of being kidnapped by error he's specifically the same swap sans that was part of the star sanses. he was turned into an error after he got too close to error (in my verse, if error's too stressed out and glitching if he touches someone he'll corrupt their code. error wasn't aware of this before though)

Error is always compared to a computer the way he can crash and load and access to codes and I just thought I would go deeper with that, so let me introduce to you: Error with an internet connection in his brain

The man's brain is connected to the internet, if there is something he wants to search on Google he can do so from his mind, if he needs to calculate something he goes Google -> calculator and calculates, the whole thing is visible in his right socket

There is no limitation, if he wants to watch a movie he just has to open a new tab and go on a streaming site, he can do anything Google can do

Also his magic extends to electricity in general, basically anything that works on electricity, may it be plugged on an outlet or with batteries, he can control it

He can switch the lights off and on without touching the switch, he can turn the TV on and off, change the chanels without touching the remote, he can just control the stuff with the electricity

When he loses control of his emotions everything electric around him tend to turn on and off randomly

“When he's found, you and I probably won't even remember this conversation!”

Does that mean he has something similar to Ink with short-term related memory loss or is it a memory retention issue where long-term memories have a low retention rate or 'things get fuzzy' (ofc thats assume i was reading this right)

so fun fact about my version of the star sanses

they all have bad memory (to differing degrees but still).

so yeah blue has a bad memory in general, even before his universe shattered. it's nothing as serious as ink not having a soul, he just has the monster equivalent of adhd, lmao. Ink said that because they forget stuff all the time

as for stuff from his au, he doesn't feel like he's forgotten stuff from it and can recall events from time to time during normal conversation, it's when he actively tries thinking about it when he begins forgetting about it. and the stuff he does remember is contradictory/incomplete because it changes all the time due to his universe's canon simply NOT existing. the things he remembers technically didn't happen, but it feels like it did to him. and it's not exactly progressive it just feels like it is to him because he's realizing all this stuff he's forgotten but he's also remembering all these things that happened as the story goes on

the way his memories work regarding his au is pretty weird because it's on a meta level where the more i write about it the more blue remembers

As far as Hollow Knight goes, I do not- it’s been years since I’ve really dug into content about it and I don’t remember any of it now :<

Buuuuut on the off chance that you like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Durgetash, 10000/10 would recommend Storm Warning by NeverwinterThistle on Ao3. (Notable TW for graphic violence, unintentional violence, past mentions of SA, and eventual smut in one of the chapters)

It can take a second to get into- they use a lot of uncommon words (I looked up definitions a few times) and the way they describe things is from the Dark Urge’s perspective- which can take a little bit to get used to how they do it, but it’s very cool and I’m low key obsessed with specifically how they view architecture.

It’s also just one of the best thought out fics I’ve read in a hot minute- the world building is solid, the characterization is on point- especially the relationships it explores and how they dance around each other- and it’s got nifty slow burn elements and I am always so here for that.

In "Our Landlord that we Pay in Fear (collect my pages)" did Nightmare actually not do anything to Killer? Was it actually a... uhh, ghost(?) Was it the real anomaly from something new? Or was Killer hallucinating... I don’t think there's any point in the story where Killer has blatant phhallucinations but he's definitely been paranoid- I just feel like it was important but it never gets brought up again so uh, eh?

killer was hallucinating, his anomaly doesn't even have a visible manifestation nor can it leave his universe in the first place

technically Nightmare had a hand in causing it because the stress of walking in a dark forest and feeling hunted was what triggered it in the first place, but he had no idea that would happen

it's never brought up because killer (and the others) hardly ever open up about their mental health like that. he doesn't think it's something that's important/serious (and frankly he doesn't really register that they Are hallucinations. he just thinks of it a thing that happens sometimes)

it doesn't help that his point of reference is dust who very obviously has hallucinations due to how often he reacts to "nothing"

overall i try not to be too blatant when it comes to mental disorders because i feel like it feels more natural to not straight up say what's happening/what i intended because most of these characters wouldn't be that knowledgeable about this and i tend to keep the narrator limited to what the character knows.

so for example it'll be very rare for stuff like "he's hallucinating" "he's having a manic episode" "he has schizophrenia" to be said. it's show don't tell basically. and even then what im showing can be interpreted differently

the "dont touch anyone" thing is a rule he imposed upon himself. he doesn't know exactly what would happen if he touched anyone but he can only assume bad things considering Error's touch is what led to him becoming blazar in the first place. unfortunately for him, unlike Error, he really craves physical affection

blazar's memory loss works similar to retrograde dissociative amnesia, he can't remember anything from when he was swap and doesn't even remember he WAS swap (he had to relearn that), but he still has all the same skills he did before, so he can read, talk, write, use magic and instinctively knows how to use things he's used before even if he doesn't remember doing that or what it's called.

so he doesn't exactly have vague opinions or feelings on things influenced by who he used to be, at least through memories. he DOES have complicated feelings about ink and dream though, but that's because he knows that they were swap's friends, not because he remembers them
