Rode to Florence, KS. They are holding a monthly Sunday bike run, which was trying to take over famous Cassoday run. - Cassoday run had over 20 years history. It got too commercial and towns people got tired of it, they decided to quit hosting.
Weather was crappy so it was rather dead. Felt sorry for people in town as they probably expected good turn out= decent cash business. There are always Christian Motorcycle Association guys in bike run like this. They saw me limping and insisted they pray for me. I let them and pray together.
Went to a bar, called Rusty Spurs. Kirk ordered a bloody Mary. He claimed that it was the best he ever tasted. The bartender lady spoke bit of Japanese, which was mind boggling in this small pretty much only white town ( I saw no non white people while we were there. ) They were running bikini bike wash for $25. It was raining so no one was going for it. Felt bad for a lady hanging out in a swim wear, hoping to get customers.
We talked to a guy with an UK accent and his son. He was riding a Genuine scooter, which was a Vespa knock off. His son was riding a Kaw Z125, like us, rare breed there as there are mostly typical v twin cruisers - Harleys and look alikes. There were some late model Gold Wings. Kirk thought his bike was probably the oldest out there. I believed him.
He got rained on multiple times. Kirk, who had been riding more than a half century, was also one unprepared rider. He had a half helmet, a shades, t shirt collared shirt a regular loose fit jeans and leather gloves. Not suitable for the weather at all. He said he couldn't see much when rained hard.
We also had a stop at a bar/ grill in El Dorado.
Very Trumpian place. Entrance was littered with cigarettes butts. Saw some stickers praising Trump and making fun of "liberals" inside. We used pissers and had one drink and left.
