Though all versions hold a special place in my heart, I think I will forever prefer the older live recording of hadestown specifically because of the fact that in that version Orpheus’s dislike/ weariness of hadestown is much more apparent. He even is shown to be angry with Eurydice when he finds out that she signed her life away. I think that it makes the story so much more beautiful because despite being angry and feeling betrayed and still wanted to save her ( which yes could be the bare minimum but still) and it helps to drive home the points concerning capitalism and how it can change people.
