the actual chapter is so-so but im still really proud of the introduction

i should try rewriting the chapter, see if i have any better ideas, but anyways, in the meantime heres the introduction because i really do like it a lot:

Kitty Baker was not a normal girl. No, not in a mock edgy "I'm-not-like-other-girls-mom" kind of way, but, in a way that was and is unique to Willowhills.

Kitty Baker. . . Was hard to explain.

She had always been. . . There. Even the oldest residents of Willowhills, those whom were pushing a hundred remembered playing with her as a child, remembered her handmade jewelry and several still had pieces of said jewelry in their possession. No one remembered when she had gotten there, had anyone in town been able to talk to the bones that lay under long-salted earth, they might have been able to gain an answer, might have been able to extract a story of a girl who looked too young to be on her own but also to old to have a guardian who had come into town one spring day with a smile on her lips and a suitcase filled with jewelry she used in place of greetings.

shes just, shes adorable???? shes fae, and is immortal, and is hypothetically scary, yes, but she also uses handmade jewelry as a way to say hello?? and most of the jewelry is charmed so that the wearer stays safe???

she hasnt had friends in a long time, because of the immortal thing, but when two sisters move into willowhills (her town) and clearly dont know anything about fae or being careful around their new “good neighbors” she makes them jewelry??? jewelry that gives them advice about how to stay safe??? because she cares so much???

and she thinks about her old friends all the time??? like, still “pulls on” the jewelry they were buried in?? even though she knows theyre dead?? she still checks on them?? because shes so lovely???

she has a halfway friend in a fellow fae, mandie, and even though she doesnt like nicknames she never tells mandie to stop??? because she secretly likes it that someone cares enough to give her one at all??? she doesnt even like kit-kats very much, but mandie calls her kit-kat and kitty doesnt ask her to stop??? because shes touched by it!!!
