I'm not saying it's omen about going back to work tomorrow...
...but this morning I started making two loaves of bread as a thank you for our neighbor who has been out with her industrial snow thrower and has cleared our walks twice now.
First loaf was resting as I set the over to 350 and mixed up the 2nd loaf. Last ingredient: milk. What do we not have in the fridge? Milk.
Threw on a pair of jeans but kept my slippers on to run to Wawa. Snow has melted onto the sidewalks and turned to ice. Fun!
Come home. Throw salt. Finish mixing loaf two. It's a quickbread, so into the oven! Which is...
Cold.
Son of a nutcracker.
Luckily, while our oven is old, it's new enough to have a safety feature that doesn't let the gas flow if the igniter doesn't snap on. So the kitchen had not become a gas chamber.
Also luckily, we never gave our toaster oven to the Goodwill. So I dug it out of the basement, cleaned it off, found the one loaf pan that will fit in it.
We'll see how this goes.
I blame the Eagles.
