#kitano-cho

After (what I felt was) a rigorous morning of ballet at Kozlova in the Shin-Kobe area, I stepped outside the studio and the sunlight immediately surrounded me with radiance and warmth. Finally, spring was starting to make its entrance... although recently it’s been chased back into hiding by a cold, rainy spell. I knew I just had to appreciate the rest of the afternoon, so instead of going back home, I decided to spend some time walking around Kitano-cho, also known as Kitano Ijinkan, the Kobe foreign settlement. Actually, I’d been there before in the fall and didn’t find it too interesting, but this time, the weather was an excellent match for the colorful flower arrangements and interesting architecture.

Before I wandered too far, I made sure I had lunch. At the top of a hill, I found this nice cafe and enjoyed the fresh air as I ate some sandwiches.

Toward the end of my stroll, I even came upon a Japanese shrine right within the town!
