Siva Llama

The Siva Llama was a 1970s British kit car designed by Neville Trickett and sold by the Siva Motor Car Co. in Aylesbury. Based on Hillman Imp mechanicals, it could be built in around 80 hours and was marketed as a versatile DIY vehicle, available as a convertible, saloon, van, or open-top model. With a fiberglass body on a steel chassis, it looked like a more streamlined Mini Moke and weighed just 545 kg.

Power came from a rear-mounted 875 cc Imp engine producing about 42 bhp, giving the Llama a top speed of around 135 km/h and a relaxed cruising speed of 70 mph. Practical details included a detachable roof, good ground clearance, a tight turning circle, and decent fuel economy. Siva also promoted it as a car suitable for developing markets, but production stayed tiny, with only a few dozen built before the company folded in 1978.

Front and rear clip on composite monocoque chassis, rear-mid engine—that trailing-arm suspension!

Anyway, they built up pretty nice—shame they're not made anymore.

If you look closely, you'll see Miata door latches and a gazillion other OEM components. The engine too, of course.
