This is just a quick, general life update for those of you who care about that sort of thing.  First and foremost, I know that updates have been sporadic at best in recent months. I apologize.  I've been in the midst of 33-40 hour work weeks for the past several months, and so my online time is limited. When I do get on, it's usually mid- to late-evening, and by that time I have just enough energy to relax on MSN with a couple of friends or do a handful of quick events/missions on Guild Wars 2 before I end up passing the fuck out.

When Ihaven'tbeen working, I've been submitting applications for employment to other companies, and, most recently, I've been organizing my writing portfolio and updating my resume in gradual preparation for my eventual application to the companies Biowareand Ubisoft. I'll likely submit an application for a QA position, as that's the only thing currently available that I'm actually qualified for.  But it's a foot in the door regardless, so wish me luck!  (For those of you who weren't aware, it's my eventual goal to become a script writer/storyboard artist for game companies.)

For those of you who aren't aware, I was recently promoted to Service Leader at my current job. Which is basically a neutral term created by management that means, essentially, I have the responsibilities of a manger without the salary, and with minimal authority.  Given how I've been working for this particular company for almost three years, however, it's still somewhat of a big deal for me, as they don't award the title lightly.  This also, however, is largely responsible for my crazy hours.

I'm also preparing for Katsucon in February, which, while exciting, is putting a bit of a financial strain on me, as I hand-sew all of my cosplay outfits, and Malik is not the easiest outfit to make by hand. Significantly easier than Anders, but only marginally. Due to financial issues, I've had to take a year off from college, which means that getting my degree has become slightly more complicated. 

I hope to be around more in the next few months, but I can't make promises.  With the holiday season looming around the corner, you probably won't see much of me until after Thanksgiving. I just wanted to give you guy's a head's up that I haven't been ignoring you; I've just been ridiculously busy.  In other news, Hurricane Sandy is supposed to hit my state late tonight/early tomorrow morning, so I may go off the grid for a few days if I lose power.

As it's now the 17th of June, it can safely be said that my brief hiatus is over. (Regrettably.) Those all-too-short four days were without a doubt the most fun I've had in recent months, and I'm sorry to have left. Valdis/Ali and I had a blast, and as tired as I am (and as sore as my feet are), it was worth it.

 But just as my vacation has come to an end, so, too, as promised, has the queue. A semi-regular blogging schedule is now in effect.  I say 'semi' rather tentatively, as in less than a week my summer courses will begin, and so my ability to commit to Tumblr/the internet as a whole will be significantly less, other than on weekends.  This is in addition to my work schedule as well, so if I'm off your dash for several days at a stretch, either of those options are doubtless the most likely cause/explanation.

I will squeeze some writing in however, never fear. I'll probably just be slower than what's already typical for me. 

I will be out of the state from the 13th until the 17th of June.  To go creep on this girl. Internet will be spotty at best, as I'll only have my Nook with me.  As a result, expect a very long queue. Posts will be marked as such, just so there isn't any confusion. All asks/etc. will be answered once I get back.

I'm absurdly agitated right now.  I am supposed to be traveling out of state on the 13th. My flight has been booked, appropriate planning and arrangements have been made, and I'm more or less equipped with my own personal apothecary. (TSA is going to love that.)  This, however, isn't the source of my agitation.

I submitted a time off request on the 29th of May. And received absolutely no word. Beyond never having been approved, it was never even read.  A bit irked, I confronted my manager about it. She more or less handwaved my concerns and claimed she hadn't seen it because she'd been out of the office. ...For five days? A bit dubious, I nonetheless made the appropriate sympathetic noises.  She then told me to simply resubmit my time off request that afternoon.

Let me explain.  When requesting time off, the request must be submitted electronically.  Furthermore, you have to request time off two weeks in advance of the current date, in order for the data entry form to be submitted, period. So a bit annoyed, I went home and resubmitted with bogus dates and a note in the comment section requesting that I be granted--not those dates--but the dates in my original request, which I reiterated.  We are now on the fourth day since I submitted the additional request, again with no word.

So imagine my surprise when, when logging on to check my schedule, lo and behold, I'm scheduled to work two of the days I specifically stated I would be unavailable to work.

...Right. Well, then. I've since sent a message to my Operation's manager explaining the situation and asking if they'd be willing to speak to the manager on my behalf/adjust my schedule. As I won't be staying home to work. Not when I gave them over a week's full notice in regards to taking those days off.

I had  shawarma tonight and it was fucking excellent.  Then again, I always get irrationally excited when it becomes available to me because we don't have any local shawarma restaurant. Which is odd, given how we have nearly every other ethnic cuisine in this city.  Tonight, however, was the last night of the week-long Lebanese Food Festival, so I was able to purchase some. That, and tabbouleh, and some feta and spinach pies. Garnished it all with homemade Dolmas.  The Greek festival will be in town next week; I'm going to end up fat and broke. Which one comes first is debatable. 

I sincerely was planning on getting some writing done this weekend, but shit inevitably happened and I didn't. Obviously. (Ngl, this is probably because Ali is an enabler and has rekindled my fantastically unhealthy obsession with Assassin's Creed.) Oh well. I wasn't using my social life, anyway.  However, due to the fact that my hours have been cut down to two days this week--I should have both the second act ofLove Is a Terrible Art and the Thor/Loki fic up sometime before the end of this week. Sunday is my goal, but that's entirely dependent on whether my sleep cycle corrects itself. I've been having increasingly more issues with insomnia in recent months.

I wish I had a tidbit to offer, to tide you over while you wait for the Thor/Loki fic. However, I will tell you it involves a slightly AU twist on the interrogation sceneinThe Avengers.(And knowing me it's probably going to dissolve into smut, as nearly everything I touch these days devolves sex.) I have the first opening lines in my head; the problem is finding the time to actually write it down.

Likely it will cause me more heartbreak.  I've still got a stack of books a mile high I haven't even touched yet.  Now that the semester's finally over I actually have time for leisure reading again. At least until summer classes resume, in which case we'll see.  I'm aiming my sights a little lower this year; 40 books in total instead of my usual 60. Just because I don't think I'll have the time to read 60.

As usual, though, you can expect a complete list of books I've read at the end of the year. 

In other news, I'm going to try to get the second installment of Love Is A Terrible Artup by next weekend. (Little bit of shameless self promotion, there.) And since my Ao3 account is woefully lacking updates, I'll probably try to get some Thor/The Avengers fic up before summer classes resume. (Let's all pretend I didn't suffer a massive fangirl attack when Tyro bookmarked one of my fics. It was embarrassing. Lots of stupid grinning and squealing going on. I'm 25, ffs.) I can't help it though, I have all these quality people following/paying attention to me WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?

My not-yet-six-year-old nephew now has a girlfriend, apparently. Their teacher has caught them holding hands and kissing. I'm caught between thinking it's cute and finding it terrifying.  Almost as terrifying as the thought that I'll be 30 by the time he's ten. I am officially the oldest person on Tumblr. Boo. 

I've also taken up dieting recently, in addition to walking anywhere between two to four miles a day. I figure if I keep this up at least every other day, I'll actually be able tofitinto my Maid of Honor dress in time for the wedding.  I fit into it now--it's actually a bit too big. But eh.
