"You're gonna die laughing. I just opened the back door for Sprocket to go pee, and he jumped straight into the snow and got the fucking shock of his year. Poor guy was definitely peeing, left a trail of it back to the door." Kirk laughed, blowing warm air on his hands. He hadn't put on a coat or anything to let his dog out, but the cold air had still been blowing in his face. He leaned over the edge of the couch, pressing his still icy hands against their cheeks. "Did you make coffee? I can make some if you just woke up."

Kirk's eyes scanned the paper, mumbling the words to himself. His head was aching, he'd been compiling a case for days now. His client was a douche, going back and forth on minute things just to exert power and Kirk, as his lawyer, was the lucky man to fight about it. As if that idiot understood what power was, what it could be. "We, speaking as the defen- oh for fucks sake." He sighed, spotting a typo. Another typo. Honestly had this girl he hired even graduated from school? He'd taken a chance hiring her, doing it as favor but with every mistake and misstep she made, he was starting to regret it. Sure, she was trying, he could see that. But she kept doing it, the stupid girl! He pressed the call button on his desk. "Kelly, get in here."

"Hey, do you have anything red velvet but not with cream cheese frosting or filling? I totally forgot the dessert and my sister is going to kill me. Cupakes, cakes, whatever you got!" Kirk yelled, running into the little bakery near his sister's apartment. They were throwing a party for his friend and they had a very specific dessert they liked. And since neither Levine sibling could bake, Kirk offered to grab something. And then he forgot like a fucking idiot. "Shit sorry, I didn't mean to, like, burst in here."

"I'm glad it's such a mild day. I don't think we could do this if it was freezing cold or snowing." Kirk said as they walked through the park. Instead of sitting in the coffee shop, which was weirdly busy, they decided to take their cups to-go. It was a casual date but Kirk was having a nice time with her. She made him laugh. "How's your coffee? Whatever you ordered sounded really good. I'm sadly kind of boring. I just got a caramel latte."
