Small watercolor of a kinshi from fire emblem fates. There are so many fun creatures to draw from this series and Asian mythology/folklore in general!
Happy Birthday to sonny! 🥳🥳🥳
Kinshi Knight Palla
iI attempted to paint @kinschi s dtiys because it was beautiful. They look more like teenagers than in their 20s, but oh well...

TIL Kinshi is the process of manually rotting wood shavings by sterilizing it and inoculating it with mushroom spores to make a substrate to hatch and feed the beetle larva from. This is where mushroom growers and pet beetle owners overlap!
It’s a complex because the type of mushroom matters to the beetle and the type of wood matters to both the mushroom and the beetle!
Quiet and refined ryuusui (running water) kimono, paired with an amazing gold thread lattice obi (seen on).
This kimono is a komon (=informal all over pattern kimono) and is not supposed to be paired with gold (=formal) in classic TPO rules. Yet, seeing how this obi truly enhances the swirls, it would be a shame NOT to wear those two together!
