So, how/why do presume that Dizzy was programmed with Justice's memories?
Since people seem to be ânewâ here with regards to Dizzyâs backstory, Iâll first say this.
To understand Dizzyâs past, you have to understand the connection Gear research had on her past. Â Illegal Gear experimentation conducted largely by the Conclave and the Postwar Administration Bureau.
The Bureau are by no means the only organization that tried to create their own âversionâ of Justice (whether that be a Robot Copy, Forbidden Beast Gear-derivatives like Eddie and Angra, imperfected Gear conversions like Testament, and other derivative bioweapons like Tyr)⊠other groups like Blackard Company also created their own âJusticeâ Gears like Solaria and Marina (a failed attempt).
The most notable connection to Dizzy is Eddie. Â Or as Testament refers to him âA Ghost from the Crusadesâ.
Eddie is just one of many âKinjuuâ (Forbidden Beasts) that were created during the Great War as a means of subjugating Justice and her Gear Army. Â Kinjuu literally worked alongside the Sacred Order of Holy Knights in the background as an âalternative meansâ of fighting off the Gears (Kliff knew of them, Ky was kept unaware at the time until he met Tyr by coincidence).
Unlike normal Gears created âafterâ Justice in the manifacturing process, Kinjuu are parasites born âwithout a bodyâ inside a human host.
Because theyâre born inside that human host, they have a natural immunity towards Justiceâ Command Type ability to control other Gears. Â This ability was VITAL as all previous attempts to create Gears that could resist Justiceâ influence ended in FAILURE (Testament was one of those failures, as he ultimately fell under Justiceâ power to control his mind and will).
Kinjuu (during the Crusades) were programmed with a limited life-span so as to be used as âdisposable weaponsâ and were âprogrammedâ to hunt Gears.
In other words, Gears and Kinjuu were ânatural enemiesâ during the Crusades.
But just like Kinjuu are programmed to hunt Gears, Gears themselves have a âdiagnostic combat defense programâ that was installed in them as a way to evolve as they fight as living weapons. Â All Gears, with very few exceptions, have this ability installed in their subconsciousness.
In Dizzyâs case, that âdefense program systemâ is manifested as Necro and Undine, who act to protect Dizzy when she is threatened. Â Necro in particular has taken over Dizzyâs consciousness in dire situations in the past (especially when I-No attacked Dizzy), and Sol had to use his powers to subdue Necro in order for Dizzyâs âreal selfâ to resurface.
Back in the year 2181, Eddie (having taken over Zato=ONEâs body) was on the run from the Assassins and came across Dizzy in an altercation that spurred him to fight her for what was seemingly no apparent reason.
That confrontation allowed Eddie to become more âself awareâ of his identity as a living weapon, though it would not be long before Eddie and Zato both died afterwards.
At the same time, it revealed that Dizzy herself was resisting the âinfluencesâ of her manufactured past. Â This would all come to a head when Dizzy confronted a Justice Copy created by Crow Kuruwaba a few weeks later. Â
It was thanks in part to Solâs influence and teaching that Dizzy was able to resist the Justice Copyâs control.
Suffice to say that, despite the fact Dizzy has no âimmediateâ connection to the Crusades (she was born after 2175 when the War originally âendedâ), her past âartificial memoriesâ of that time were all based on the memories of Justice, which she found so ânostalgicâ.
Dizzy is self-aware of this, so when she fights, she âfights against herselfâ⊠the self that is a COPY of Justice, a âkilling machineâ⊠the self that isnât âDizzy herselfâ.
Dizzy fights to protect her friends and family, and she fights âto remain humanâ and to remain her âtrue selfâ.
