KINGH: Dare To Dream Feat. Shy FX
KINGH is flexing her ambition on "Dare To Dream," produced by jungle legend Shy FX. The Leeds native, now based in London, sings over Mtume's "Juicy Fruit" about her goals and vision for the future. The single is included on her forthcoming debut EP, also titled Dare To Dream. She explained what the song is about in a press statement.
"Dare To Dream" is about vision, ambition, courage, and giving yourself permission to want more. It represents confidence, faith, and mindset. Sometimes the hardest thing is allowing yourself to believe what is possible. This song is about stepping into that belief. I want people to hear it and feel uplifted, like theyâve been reminded to think bigger, dream boldly, and move towards what they truly want. My approach with Dare To Dream was to create something that felt uplifting and expansive while still carrying weight and soul.â
"Dare To Dream" follows "La Prima," which is also on the EP that is exclusively produced by Shy FX. KINGH's upbringing between Lake Como and Milan included listening to music by Funkadelic, Lenny Kravitz, David Bowie, Omella Vanoni, and Erykah Badu, all of whom she cites as influences on her creativity. Dare To Dream comes out June 26th on Shy FX's Digital Soundboy label.Â
Present Future Retroactive: Vol. 4
The internet is a vast and wonderful place, and sometimes weâve let freshly-minted singles cool off over time. However, in this economy of speed and scale, it doesnât make their music any less worthy. In short, a great record is a great record. Besides who doesnât love to reminiscence of better times? Ah, the nostalgia! Covering the freshly-minted and its relative like, we revisit some of our favorites, and among them you might recognize a few familiar faces.Â
HEIGHTS - Silly
The premier offering in a trifecta of three singles written during quarantine, HEIGHTSâ Sophie Blair presents âSillyâ. Contrasting the airy wisp of the Brighton singerâs sweet vocal hush, âSillyâ juxtaposes the trackâs lofty sentiment with its bassy undercurrent. Floating its expansive, trip-hop sprawl, the subtle garage of the singleâs break-beat rhythms dive into the euphoria of getting lost in the moment.Â

INU INU - SLEEP
Stemming from their first official release as EP âRunning out of Dreamsâ, Dutch synth pop act INU INU share âSleepâ. Floating against the dreamy saturation of distant guitars and muted percussion, âSleepâ beckons with its reassuring calm. Written about the fear of rejection and the feeling of being alone, âSleepâ pacifies those sentiments through those soothing tone of their lullaby.
The Ivy - Runaway Dream
Taken from the Oklahoma three-piece band's recent Extended Play âWe Move Faster at Nightâ, âRunaway Dreamâ is a marriage between the past, present and future. Oozing over its lofty pop ballad sensuality, the cosmic expanse of The Ivyâs track beams over towering sentiment and swooning vocals detailing the thrill of the pursuit but never getting it quite right romantically. Jinka - Dagger
Written in conjunction with Los Angeles synth-pop duo Magdalena Bay, âDaggerâ was released ahead of her much anticipated full-length âNo Anything Elseâ. Racing through its accelerated pace of percolating synths woven to the yearn of vocal anguish, âDaggerâ is cuts deep with its electrifying emotion.

KINGH - Another Round
The artistic moniker of Leedsâ Emily OâDonnell, KINGHâs debut single âAnother Roundâ resonates of an inimitable swagger. Saturating in the slow, sauntering immersion of its kicking percussion and the lounge of its bassy smooth, âAnother Roundâ underlines the complexity of young love and poisoned feelings turning into dark obsessions. Brushing off her vexations of her sharp-cutting words, Emily elegantly and eloquently glides through with the dark of the night with an unhindered ease in her premiere clip. Â
MishCatt - Goofy
The artistic name of San Jose, Costa Ricaâs Michelle Gonzalez, MishCatt shares the quirky, reggae jolt of âGoofyâ. A hook-heavy premise accented with the sweeping carry of Gonzalezâs whoop, the track jostles between its contrasting elements. Written with a certain Spanglish bilinguismo, MishCattâs âGoofyâ pegs fluttery horns to globules of quirky synths. An amalgam of often conflicting textures, Gonzalez yields an oozing cohesion as her silken R&B tones ease a flowing legato over the staccato-punch of its dancehall-infused riddims. Â

Molly Moore x Maty Noyes - Handsomer
An offbeat pop single from Molly Moore written alongside best friend Maty Noyes, âHandsomerâ speaks to the troubled mind of the Los Angeles artist. Written after a tumultuous break-up which saw Molly receiving the short-end of the deal, âHandsomerâ walks on unsure footing. Splicing Mooreâs R&B slick to the chatter of her unresolved contemplation, âHandsomerâ spirals in constant fluctuation between its boasting confidence and its tender vulnerability.

NUUXS - SPF
The second single off her upcoming debut âHeirloomâ, the French-born, London-based artist of Laotian descent, Anouck âNUUXSâ Boungnan shares track âSPFâ. An upbeat invigoration of weaving synths textures, the sharp, contrasting track navigates between the dusky sentiment of its howling vocal blues and the curious playfulness of her youthful, falsetto squeak. Written as a metaphor of being burnt by the light of the sun, witness the all-consuming passion behind NUUXSâ âSPFâ.

WRENN - Maggie Gyllenhaal
Though a child of the latter part of the â90s, WRENNâs Zoe Mirkovich track was written as a reflection of the old, with a passion for the new. Speeding through the grunge of resonant bass converging towards its shoegazing sustain, WRENNâs afflicted emotion on âMaggie Gyllenhaalâ recalls idealized memories of earlier, more innocent times.Â
