she pauses a few feet away, watching him for a moment.
he looks tired — not the kind that sleep fixes, but the kind that settles in when you’ve been holding too much for too long.
after a beat, she sits beside him and pulls her notebook from her backpack, flipping to a clean page. the paper rests against her thigh as she writes, careful and neat. when she’s done, she nudges his elbow lightly so he knows to look, then holds the notebook out.
Jelly drank something with WAY too much caffeine. I think she's going to spin in circles on the trampoline until the stars are in the sky, or she throws up. Or maybe both.
