Okay what the fuck is "falling to the darkness"
It’s actually rather complicated, and requires me to go more in depth on other things
I believe i’ve said this bit in previous posts, but i’ll rephrase here :) the world of BLOOM is heavily centered on light. The more light hits something, the more clear its form will be. On the other hand, if something is left in darkness for too long, it will become unclear, almost melting into something not quite resembling its original form. This also goes for creatures.
Creatures need light to exist just the same as objects do. Light affects a creature’s brain, allowing it to think and act. With an absence of light, creature’s brains and even flesh begins to soften just the same as any object. This is known as falling to the darkness only when the changes are irreversible. The effects of falling to darkness, as long as they are caught quickly, can be reversed if the creature is exposed to enough light. The symptoms are as follows; The creature will develop an aversion to light, preferring to stay in dark areas. In extreme cases, this can manifest as acts of violence towards light. The creature’s eyes will darken. The creature’s ability to think will slow. the creature’s sharper features (like pincers or claws) will dull. If the creature produces light naturally, it may attempt to remove any light producing organs.
And here’s a kincat that fell to the darkness.
In the past, falling to the darkness was uncommon, but still easy to diagnose and treat. However, in modern times where Owari has disappeared and the new star is dimming, most of the population has fallen to the darkness.

I would like to know more about this Kisnalk
Kisnalks are kincats who have been parasitized by stalks. (Art of both species below)
The stalks will burrow themselves into the kincats, feeding off of the kincat and using them as a sort of shield or disguise. Of course, once a kincat is infected by a stalk, it’ll look VERY different, most notably having their eyes merge into one central eye and having the stalk’s eyes be located in their ears. In most cases the kincat can recover from this (due to how flexible stalks are, they don’t end up taking up much space in the kincats body. + they HAVE to keep the kincat alive in order to feed from them), resuming life as a kisnalk.
Can you tell is more about the kincats environment?
they live in houses all the way up the side of mount 0.3, which borders the great bamboo forest AND the sea. This lets them trade with squalings (who live in the bamboo forest) for more materials to build with, aswell as makes fishing easier.
