In December 1990, after almost two years aiding Task Force X in the ‘Suicide Squad’ publication, Amanda Waller officially asks Barbara Gordon aka Oracle to be part of the team in John Ostrander and Kim Yale’s issue 48 (left cover art presented by Karl Kesel and Geof Isherwood). In this issue, while it is a milestone in Oracle’s young career as the genius computer hacker, Barbara relives how she became Oracle to her therapist when she is asked by Cliff Carmichael why she is “crippled” (right panels presented by Isherwood, Todd McCraw and Todd Klein). Barbara recounts (based on the story in Alan Moore’s 'Batman: The Killing Joke) The Joker coming to her home, shooting her, then beating her up, undressing her and taking pictures of her “for Batman’s benefit”. Despite this traumatic experience, she accepts her new place on the Suicide Squad, officially embracing her new identity as Oracle. Next in our retrospect we will see how Barbara handles physically protecting herself now that she is in a wheelchair. ✌🏼️💜💛📖🎨🎉

1988's #manhunter series with #markshaw was a great series that should be checked out. Somewhat forgotten over the years. Would be awesome if @jamesgunn made a miniseries out of it.
