Listen, I'm not saying anything, but--
Immortality & Longevity in TDP
Because season 7 brought up some very interesting Threads to contrast with the series' previous sentiments on immortality / ridiculously long lifespans. So let's go.
Those Who Naturally Live Forever(-ish)
There are three main camps of characters who experience longevity in TDP.
Those who experience it naturally, but can still die (the Archdragons, some elves)
Those who acquire it through dark magic means
Those who cannot permanently die (the First Elves, Aaravos)
I want to talk about the Group Number One first, because it includes the most characters and was the basis for this meta. Besides Lujanne and Akiyu, we don't know too many elves who have lived for hundreds of plus years, although it wouldn't surprise me if Aditi did. Lujanne and Akiyu are both mages as well, with Lujanne living at the most powerful concentration of Moon magic in the world, so that could be part of the reason why she's lived so long, and Tidebound elves (as Finnegrin had Sea Legs' sister for 40+ years) just naturally live much longer than other types of elves (Moonshadow, Sunfire) as far as we know.
The Archdragons themselves also don't talk much about the length of their lives, since it's a species-shared trait and so second nature to them. However, whenever they do talk about it, we get a very clear picture:
So one of the things in the Discord watch party was Aaron Ehasz finally(?) answered the outright question of "did Kim'dael kill Luna Tenebris?" This isn't a question I particularly follow, so I don't remember if he has said other stuff about it in the past... but his answer was so funny to me in its roundabout elegance that I just. I don't even know. I feel compelled to dissect it. He says:
I'll throw it out there to you, though: part of the story we learn of Kim'dael is that the Order of the Blood Moon is destroyed when Avizandum takes over. So when the Archdragon of the Moon was reigning, the Order of the Blood Moon was allowed to be, and to exist, and then something changed. So I don't know that it was in Kim'dael's interests for there to be a transition of reign at that point, from Luna to someone else.
This is... I mean, come on. It's obviously dodging the question. That's not to say that Kim'dael did kill Luna Tenebris, but there's definitely something there that he's deliberately not saying/answering. Given that we know already that TDK will center on a challenger to Zym's still extremely new rule, someone who has a claim that may be more legitimate, it seems likely that the circumstances of Luna Tenebris's death will be a relevant factor.
The theory that Kim'dael killed her is one of those things where the text does support it in a lot of ways, but it's not the only possible explanation. It is a very tidy one, though:
in the visuals accompanying Zubeia's account of events, the moon goes from white to the red Blood Moon when Luna dies
in The Queen's Mercy, Aditi comments that "the dragons" feared Kim'dael before they persecuted her, suggesting that it's not totally crazy to think she could take out an archdragon
she's introduced as an antagonist opposite Finnegrin, and while there aren't a ton of obvious similarities between them, he is an elf looking to kill the archdragon of his primal because she stands in the way of him exploiting its power
and finally, it was an era of peak Aaravos Fuckery(tm) to the point that it's highly likely he arranged Luna's death in some way in order to orchestrate the subsequent boiling point conflict, and the relationship between Kim'dael's magic and dark magic is enough for a team-up (knowing or unknowing) with Aaravos to be (again) not totally crazy
