He may act tough but heâs a soft bean teddy bear okay?

âMr Wright! Good morning, will Ms Kyrius be having breakfast out on the terrace today?â he heard Cecilia, the one maid who didnât fear him, the one voice he didnât hear last night amongst the others.
He did not look back to see her â I donât know, ask her yourself. Iâm leavingâ he mumbled, his face darkened as he spoke. Cecilia arch a brow skeptical of his words. She had eyes. She saw how he cared for Kyrius. âAre you sure you want to leave now? What about Ms Kyrius? Did you two have a fight?â she asked worriedly. Sheâd also seen how Kyrius saw him. â Nevermind her. S-sheâs fine, Iâm just.. leavingâ she noticed as his gaze met the floor at the mention of the blonde.
Cecilia explained to him about the room's arrangement as she did Kyrius and said he was free to go. He walked away and out of the establishment. she looked worried, why would a man so infatuated as he was, leave without the woman he was infatuated with. She walked to the backroom and saw her colleagues talking, more like gossiping she thought. Nevertheless, she sighed and approached.Â
âDo any of you know if something happened between Ms Kyrius and the mercenary?â they all shook their heads âodd.. He up and left just now.. It's the crack of dawn and there is no sign of Ms Kyrius?â she heard her colleagues snickeredÂ
âWell, better that way, I was wondering when would he stop being such an eyesoreâ one of them murmured â next to Ms. Kyrius, of course, jeesh how dare he put his eyes on herâ the other one spoke, and Cecilia frowned.Â
âWhat do you all mean? Mr Wright brought back mis Kyrius in one piece, if it wasnât for him who knows what wouldâve happened to herâ she spatted to her colleagues whose gazes lowered in shame âJust because he isnât a knight or a crusader, or any other job you deemed worthy. Does not mean heâs a bad person, or a lesser candidate⌠At least Ms Kyrius doesn't seem to think so, she wouldnât think of anyone that way, and certainly not Mr Wrightâ.Â
Her colleagues slumped on their chairs as they were scolded, Cecilia was right. What they did, what they said. It wasnât something Kyrius would ever do, she wouldn't care about those kinds of superficial things. She was kind and caring to everyone, anyone. Cecilia sighed. âWhat if he heard you bunch? What if what you said made him think the worst of Ms Kyrius?â. The maids said nothing, they just continued to talk amongst themselves.Â
                             â
It was almost high-noon by the time the airship reached the city of Izlude. He was fighting himself about how he had just left as soon as the sun came out, and what would she think of him. But the maids were right, he looked over at his calloused hand and remembered how they felt holding on to her small delicate one, how he said her name so clearly, over and over again. He blushed before stepping out, he walked to the mercenary guild soon enough and Vera looked at him surpriseÂ
âOh! There you are, you rascal! You took off and said nothing!!â she scolded, but soon stopped, noticing the gloomy aura that surrounded the tall brawny man.
âYou look like you've been caught on a stampede of Savages. Sit, Iâll serve you foodâ he sat and as she said, she came back with a trail filled with assorted meats.Â
âSo, did you take that ladies request after all?â Vera finally asked, he did take off the day she mentioned the blonde would depart on her request. At the mention of the warlock, his mood seemed to worsen. She has no idea why. She brushed her hair confused. âWhether you took it or not, it doesnât matter, afterall you didnât even brought a contract with youâ
He took a bite of his food, he realized what Vera hinted at, no contract no pay, no contract no obligation, and still he left, he went, he accompanied her. âItâs fine.. I donât mind not getting paid for that jobâ Veraâs expression shifted, sheâd known the man since he was a teen, she was surprise when the captain of the Royal guard dropped him off, but he was a hard worker, and he was determined to work his way up, to earn as much money as he could. So it stumped her that he didnât care about this job, especially because the warlock was being more than generous.Â
âOh I get itâ She mused, causing him to finally look up from his plate â you fell for the pretty blonde didn't you?â Vera teased, not knowing how true her words had been. He choked on his meal. She wasnât expecting that reaction from him. She waved a hand in dismissal. â what am I saying, youâre the most awkward dude around women, even if you fell for the pretty lady, there would be no way you acted on itâ.
He almost growled, remembering that he actually did acted on it. She acted on it. He slammed his pitcher down on the table and her eyes widened.Â
â Iâm going back to the dorms⌠Donât bother meâ
Once again she was surprised. The man had spoken clearly to her, no stutter, no hesitation, his greatest source of teasing had been his stuttering around women, but now he had not stuttered. Vera crossed her arms intrigued, whatever he went through with the pretty warlock must've really done a number on him, she just couldnât tell if it was for better or for worse.
