Ahhh gosh, throughout the entire busy day I had, I kept on thinking back to this message and smiling! 

I’m elated to hear you enjoy my fic so much. Risotto is definitely one of my top squadra members, and I’m sure it shows. He has so much raw potential and I greatly enjoying weaving him into the story and conveying all that I see in him. For a character who is so stoic, he often becomes an important part of the emotional core in the narrative. The strange kind of connection that’s been developing between Risotto and Trish is something I’ve planned from the start. To put it simply without giving too much away, they’re slowly beginning to see each other as stand ins for something that was missing or lost. 

I’m actually super relieved that you like my dialogue - Weak interactions are commonly spotted as easy ways to break a story. I think La Squadra was always a great team, but the separation that we saw in Vento Aureo never let it shine through. But still, we saw that they all cared greatly for each other. I’m just trying to expand on that and show it.

Ah but thank you doesn’t even cut it, reading this makes me so happy.. You’re basically telling me that I’m achieving everything I’ve set out to achieve in SoA and then some. As a writer it’s so incredible to hear something like that, I’m indebted to you and all the other readers who have left me comments and feedback. It’s people like you who inspire me to keep going, despite the niche nature of my fanfics.

I started writing about La Squadra cause I loved these characters who were brimming with potential and life but were tragically slain before they could go anywhere. They just have a sort of charm, you know? I remember seeing myself and the handful of others scattered around this site who passionately loved them but had little content to indulge in. I can’t draw well, but I was taken hold of by a “Be the change you want to see” mentality. That’s why I first started writing about them, and I’ve had so much fun since then. 

I knew I’d never gain much of a following by writing for minor characters, but I loved them and I wanted to make other people who loved them happy. Recently I’ve been seeing La Squadra gaining popularity, and while they’re still no where near fan favorite level I’m so glad that people are paying more attention to them. 

I’m always happy to hear people say that I write the characters well. We all get so little to draw from in their original appearances. There are a lot of gaps to fill and backstories to contemplate, so I’m glad that what I’ve pieced together for each of them is pleasing. I do draw from popular fanon in some places, but there are parts that I also disagree with and don’t use (for example Melone being constantly hyper sexual) and I often fear that people may be turned off by the parts that diverge from common prevailing headcanons. 

And heck there are things that I’m still unsure of where I sit on - Like whether Prosciutto and Pesci are actually related or not. I think over all I aim for a mix that takes what we were giving and whats popularly believed and add extra ingredients could make those traits believably work in a multifaceted character.

It does my heart good to hear that you enjoy my story. I enjoy walking this road with all my readers and finding out where things will go and what will happen next. I may have knowledge of the map you all don’t there are still developments and twists for me to uncover alongside you, and I’m so grateful for the people I’m making this journey with.
