Serial Killer Cannibal Clowns
A conversation that just happened: in a classroom.
We were discussing proper comma usage. The example given was
"He hopes that after they eat the people will leave."
The students were having a difficult time figuring out where the comma should go. Finally, the teacher pointed out “…..after they eat the people……” and that is where it went wildly off track.
Student #1: So he is a carnival?
Teacher: What?
S #1: He is going to eat people so he is a carnival.
S #2: NO! He is a cannibal. Cannibals eat people. Clowns are at carnivals.
S #1: And that is why most people think clowns are scary. Who wants to die by being eaten by a clown.
S #3: Then why do they always have clowns at birthday parties if they are going to eat people?
S #4: John Wayne was a famous clown actor that killed a while bunch of people
Teacher: (as entire class jumps into the fray) Hold on! John Wayne was not a cannibal clown. He was an actor. John Wayne Gacy was a serial killer who also dressed up as a clown but he was not a cannibal and ALL clowns are not cannibals.
S #1 But some are and that’s why they are so scary. Which one are you going to get?
Bell rings to change class. Literally, saved by the bell from serial killer cannibal clowns. …and the teenagers who believe in them.
