She asked for âMaybe some sort of high school or college AU where Keith sees Pidge walking home alone in the snow? Where it goes from there is up to you.â And admittedly I modified it a bit. I hope you like it!

Katie Holt stared out the classroom window, having become bored with this professors lesson on astrophysics long ago. She already knew this information and didnât need to hear it again in a bored monotone voice. Besides, the white fluffy clouds that seemed to promise snow were much more interesting to look at.
Katieâs attention was diverted to the campus pathways below as more students began walking along them, indicating the change in classes was soon. One particular red jacket caught her eye, the owner of said jacket looking up at the windows of the science building Katie was in.
When he located the window the girl sat at, his face split with a lopsided grin and he raised his hand in greeting. A light blush dusted Katieâs cheeks as she subtly checked where the professor's attention was at before sending a small wave back. She watched Keith duck into the building, though she knew he didnât have any classes in this particular place that day.
After what still felt like an eternity and a half, the class was finally dismissed for the day. Katie shoved all of her pens and notebooks haphazardly into her green bag and bolted from the mundane torture chamber.
As she rounded the corner out of the doorway, she nearly ran straight into the same red jacket she had been looking at earlier. She peered up into the face of her best friend, both now grinning from ear to ear.
âSlow down there Pidge, Iâm not looking to get run over just now.â Keith joked.
Katie rolled her eyes at the nickname her friends had grown fond of after hearing it from her older brother once. âWeâre college kids Keith, we always want to get run over.â
Keith laughed at her joke and pulled her to the doors of the building by her arm. âCome on, we need to get back to the apartments and get ready for that snowstorm everyone is saying is gonna hit.â
Katie smiled as Keithâs grip shifted so their fingers were interlaced. Her heart stuttered at the feeling of their palms pressed together, even knowing that Keith saw nothing beyond friendship in the gesture.
She lightly squeezed his hand in hers, to which he looked back at her to shoot her a wink.
They burst through the double doors of the building, enveloped in the chilly show laden air. Katie almost immediately started shivering. She claimed she was made for warmer climates and making her endure cold like this was cruel and unusual. Then someone would point out that she had her pick of universities that would accept her, and sheâd pout that this one had the best tech programs in the country. It didnât help that she never seemed to remember a jacket while rushing out to classes in the morning. It was Keithâs turn to roll his eyes. Katie was a genius, but that didnât mean she was smart.
He reluctantly disentangled his hand from hers and began to shrug his own jacket off. As soon as she saw what he intended, she began to protest and claim she was perfectly fine.
âKatie,â the dark haired man grumbled in exasperation, âyour lips are turning blue and the apartment complex is all the way across campus. I retain heat better than you do just take it.â
Katie reached out hesitantly and took the proffered red jacket. She carefully slipped it over her arms, enveloping herself in the scent of his aftershave, deodorant, and his dog. It was so him she would never get enough of it.
He laughed under his breath at the sight in front of him. The adorable girl swimming in the coat that fit him perfectly, encapsulating the distinct size difference between the two of them. Heâd never tell her that one of the reasons he decided to brave the chill and give her the jacket was that he loved seeing her in his clothing. Whenever she borrowed a shirt, sweatpants, or sweatshirts a thrill ran through him.
âThanks.â She whispered just loud enough for him to hear. They both turned away from the other before seeing the blushes they both had.
Katie slipped her hand back into Keithâs as they continued walking through campus. They walked leisurely, neither wanting to go their separate ways at the apartment complex.
Halfway through the walk, Katie felt something cold brush her cheek. She stopped in the middle of the path to look to the sky and the snowflakes that were slowly starting to fall. At the end of her arm, Keith was pulled to a halt as well and turned back to the girl questioningly. At her upturned face, he too looked up at the clouds.
Katie and Keith both watched in wonder as the snowflakes increased until hundreds were falling around them.
Katie looked back at the boy next to her and began to giggle. He raised an eyebrow at her, watching as she reached the hand that wasnât occupied holding his to his hair. âYouâve turned salt and pepper on me!â She laughed as she brushed the accumulated flakes off his head.
He laughed along with her. âMaybe it should be my permanent look, Iâve been told people find it very attractive.â
âNah,â she smiled at him, the hand in his hair traveling to cup his cheek. âYou look far more attractive with your normal hair.â
Shocked by her words, he stared down at the bronze haired girl. He too reached up to her face, brushing a lock of hair back from her face. He watched as her gaze travelled from his eyes to his lips and back again.
Before he really knew what he was doing, he leaned down and pressed his chilled lips against hers.
He could feel her lips smile against his as her fingers brushed through his hair. The hand that was still entwined with his squeezed as their lips moved softly against each other.
Keith pulled back from her after what felt like an eternity while also feeling like milliseconds. They just looked at each other, both of them smiling, happy that their moment had finally come.
âWELL ITâS ABOUT TIME!â
Katie and Keith both jumped three feet in the air at the sudden shout from down the path. The watched as their friends Lance and Hunk came up the path, the former practically skipping with joy.
Keith was ready to deck the happy man who interrupted the private moment. âWhat are you doing hereâ he basically growled.
âFirst of all, youâre in the middle of the campus path everyone is allowed to be here. Second, Hunk realized Pidge left her jacket at home this morning again so we were planning on rescuing her.â Lance then shot a grin between Keith and the girl wearing his jacket. âI guess we were a bit late for that though. Letâs get out of this snow though! Itâs a hot chocolate and movie marathon day, plus we need to tell Allura and Shiro about this new development in the âKeith and Katie courtship ritual.ââ
The two in question rolled their eyes as both their friends turned and merrily skipped back to their homes.
Katie turned to Keith, to find him looking back at her with gentle eyes. They smiled gently at the other. Katie reached out her hand and for the third time that day threaded their fingers together.
