The Power of Play-Based Learning in Early Childhood
Many people assume children only learn when sitting at a desk, but young minds learn best through play. Play-based learning combines education with fun, helping children build important skills while staying engaged.
Instead of memorizing facts, children learn by exploring, experimenting, and interacting with others.
Benefits of Play-Based Learning
Encourages creativity and imagination
Improves communication skills
Builds teamwork and cooperation
Supports emotional development
Develops fine and gross motor skills
Increases confidence through achievement
Activities like building blocks, pretend play, painting, gardening, puzzles, and outdoor adventures all contribute to meaningful learning experiences.
Early Learning Opportunities
Simple daily activities teach valuable lessons:
Storytime improves vocabulary.
Outdoor play develops coordination.
Music enhances memory and rhythm.
Art encourages creativity and self-expression.
Group games teach patience and cooperation.
Children also learn how to solve problems independently while developing resilience after making mistakes.
Creating Positive Learning Environments
A supportive early learning environment should include:
Safe indoor and outdoor spaces
Caring and experienced educators
Diverse educational resources
Opportunities for exploration
Respect for each child's learning pace
When children feel supported, they become more willing to ask questions, try new ideas, and interact confidently with others.
Parents Can Help Too
Learning doesn't stop when children leave the classroom.
Parents can encourage development by:
Reading together every day
Asking open-ended questions
Encouraging imaginative play
Spending time outdoors
Limiting unnecessary screen time
Celebrating small achievements
Conclusion
Play isn't a break from learningāit is learning. Through meaningful play experiences, children develop the confidence, curiosity, and skills needed for school and life.

Innovations in Pediatric Surgery
ANS Hospital
In my professional experience as a health visitor serving children and families across multiple healthcare settings, I have been able to see the many ways in which hospitals try to manageĀ pediatric surgical care. One of the hospitals that has really shone for me isĀ ANS Hospital. With the care they provide, theirĀ medical advancesĀ in practice, and the support they give to families, we see where we have come inĀ Innovations in Pediatric Surgery.
Those innovations are more than just a set ofĀ advances in medicine; they denote the changes in the way children are treated in their most vulnerable moments. From an initial consultation to the completion of recovery,Ā ANS Hospital, in every instance, has chosen to approach surgical care in a way that is child-conscious yet pragmatically advanced.
One of the things I always tell families is that kids are not mere āminiature adults.āĀ ANS HospitalĀ really seems to get thisĀ Surgical proceduresĀ at ANS Hospital areĀ tailored to the needs of their young patientsĀ and along the way, the care feels very much professional and very much personal at one and the same time.
I have seen the brilliant impactĀ Modern Techniques for Safer ChildcareĀ can have on a childās experience withĀ surgical interventions. It is very common inĀ ANS HospitalĀ to doĀ minimally invasive surgical procedures, with small incision sizes, and strict pain comfort measures. This limits theĀ physical traumasĀ as well as theĀ emotionalĀ stressĀ placed on the children to sustain them fully in a better and comfortable state ofĀ faster recovery.
InĀ pre- andĀ post-operative treatment, I often find families surprised at how smooth theĀ childās recoveryĀ process was. I would attribute much of that success to theĀ safe,Ā modern techniquesĀ that are in practice in their operating suites, such as those offered atĀ ANS Hospital.
One of the most commendable aspects ofĀ ANS HospitalĀ is the adherence toĀ Modern Surgical Care for Children. It is not just about having theĀ latest equipmentĀ but how that equipment is employed.Ā Pediatric specialists,Ā anesthesiologists, andĀ nursesĀ work alongsideĀ patient-centered careĀ principles. Every child is an individual, and care is modified accordingly.
When I meet families after their children have had surgery, I often hear about how supported they felt throughout the process-from being involved in the treatment plan to being walked through recovery. That care directly correlates with the hospitalāsĀ standards of excellence.
Families look on with panic when surgery is proposed for a child, and oftentimes, that is when I step in. IĀ share information, offerĀ peace of mind, and provideĀ long-term supportĀ from anĀ aftercareĀ perspective. My job is made easier when the foundation has been set byĀ ANS HospitalĀ or elsewhere. Their direct communication,Ā informative resources, andĀ inviting atmosphereĀ for family involvement make a fresh difference.
Typically, for a period of timeĀ after discharge, I visit very frequently to check in on recovery, endorse questions from the parents, and see to it that they are following aftercare instructions. What I note quite often is how the families almost invariably seem to be well prepared for this phase. The hospital equips families well withĀ instructions, making it easier for the families themselves, as well as health visitors like me, to support the healing at home.
In my perspective as a Health Visitor, theĀ Innovations in Pediatric SurgeryĀ are not merely aboutĀ medical improvementsĀ ā they are about developing a better and more considerate journey through theĀ healthcareĀ system for theĀ childrenĀ and theĀ families. In this regard,Ā ANS HospitalĀ is prominent. Their use ofĀ Modern Techniques for Safer Childcare, instilled withĀ Modern Surgical Care for Children, is a Model forĀ Pediatric SurgeryĀ in the Present Day.

6 Great Lessons You Can Learn From Kidscare | kidscare
Gov. Larry Hogan has been in office now for a month, and he's already faced tough questions about his handling of the Children's Medical Services. This is a health care program that has a budget of more than $200 million and serves all the Maryland counties that make up the State of Maryland. The program pays for in-home visits by pediatricians, nurses and therapists to families with young children.
The administration's budget proposal calls for a partial cancellation of a new state law that states the state is prohibited from enrolling new children in the KidsCare system until the federal government no longer covers the full tab. That will happen on September 30th when federal Medicaid funding falls to 90.5% from its current maximum. No new children are going to be added under the program. The state says that it plans to make up for the lost funds by increasing fees on existing KidsCare patients.
What do you think of the proposed cancellation of this law? Can Maryland parents be sure that if their children become uninsured, that they will not be turned down for emergency care or other services?
When kids' health care first became a priority issue, there was much concern that the program, if expanded too rapidly, could result in shortages and delays in care. But that concern seemed to fade as the system went along and became better known, especially since there were fewer uninsured children than expected.
If the health care reform bill passed by Congress can't be changed, it seems to me that KidScare is safe. After all, this is a program that the federal government supports fully, so if it is cancelled by the state, who will pay for the services?
Some critics of the health care system in Maryland fear that if KidScare isn't supported, it may become another government entitlement. That will cause the system to expand, costing even more money.
But even if it were to happen in Maryland, wouldn't it take some time before people could get to know what would happen, and how it will affect them? How about a month or two?
I don't think it's right for the state to cancel KidsCare. We need to keep kids in our community in case they get sick, or have accidents and can't get at home.
There are always ways to help the state cope if it wants to. Many other states provide Medicaid health insurance to people who don't have it through private companies, but some can't afford that.
And because there are so many uninsured children in Maryland, we must be sure that the state gets as much money from KidsCare as possible. Some believe that's part of the reason why they are canceling it.
Is that fair? Is it fair to the people who pay the taxes? I have a hard time believing so.
But I am at least glad that it's a good idea for the state to look at things realistically. if the federal government won't help, then it will likely have to do it by cutting costs elsewhere.
So, if you agree, then I suggest that you speak up now. Tell your state representatives that if they don't pass the Health Care Reform Bill, you plan to stay home, because they'll be forced to make you pay for health care for uninsured kids anyway.
And that's not something you want. Especially, not when there is a better way.
It's time to change the health care system in Maryland. If you really want to save KidsCare, and if you truly want to help the state, then you'll have to do that now, because if you delay, the bill might be back on the agenda next year.
KidsCare needs funding, so please, tell the politicians. Please tell them why you believe it should be supported.

Seven Advantages Of Kidscare And How You Can Make Full Use Of It | kidscare
If you've got a kid, you know that kidscare is important. They spend a lot of time running around and getting into things, so they need to be kept safe and comfortable. While you might not think this is an important concern, it can actually become one if the kid isn't properly taken care of.
This is especially true if your child is extremely young, as most kids are by the time they're four or five years old. As your child gets older, you'll find that they need more care than they were given when they were just starting out. But, it's still important to get a good start with kidscare.
One of the biggest dangers for children is getting hurt or being hurt in small accidents. You might have heard horror stories about little kids hurting themselves after playing around with some dirt or toy pieces. This is never a good thing for a child, so make sure that you keep your child away from anything that could possibly hurt them.
In addition, make sure that your child is kept off of any dangerous substances that could harm them. These include anything with flammable liquid or something that may be flammable. While this isn't something you'll have to worry about if your child is young, it is always wise to be on the lookout.
You might also want to take a look at your child's sleep environment. Make sure that there aren't any toys that could be choking hazards for your kid. This is something that should be done with the entire family, so that everyone will be safe when you're in the same room.
Finally, make sure that you keep a close eye on your child's medication. You don't want to get caught off guard if your kid takes something and then trips or falls. This can become a big accident that's very painful for everyone involved.
