Work on text for characters? Draw new reference images?

Last July I had like an hour or two of nothing in my work schedule, so pencils it was. :) I am still trying to get rid of the giant gap of nothing to this day... Colors came from a 12 pack of crayolas and pencil is a mechanical pencil or sharpened lead pencil. No fancy materials here.

Originally I was gonna draw random cats in with Mana and then I realized I had some cats in my bookmarks already. I tried to think about all their little fuzzy personalities but I like how Chu turned out the most. For Mana's banana sundae I did my best to illustrate not chocolate flavors cuz I know Taffy doesn't like chocolate.

On one hand (guess which one) I wish I'd completed this back in 2023, on the other hand (again, guess which one) I'm OK with coming back to complete this piece almost a year later.

Evil queen! I was gonna draw a fancy frame around this but it was not working out. There are so many little details I found while drawing this character and I enjoyed trying to convey a vibe. I remember experiencing the 'character hidden after getting done with the piece' for the first time.

Had a bit of fun experimenting with bust/half body size during last year and found it very freeing. It's a lot easier to come up with stuff for arms to do when you don't have to worry about legs. :)

Could have sworn I'd posted everything from previous years at least but couldn't be sure about some pieces. Either I'm posting it again or it's new to the eyes here, both are OK.

I was originally thinking of styling this like those acrylic standees but as you can tell I lost the plot by the time I got to actually drawing it.

I used to draw chibis like this all the time in high school, I wonder why I stopped. I imagine Blue doing a bit of a silly walk here when no one's looking.
