The air was chilling, and the rain that fell splattered onto the pavement into thick puddles. He could hear the faint sound of thunder clapping in the distance, and the bright flashes of light that brought colour to the otherwise darkening sky. When he left work hours previous, his coworkers had mentioned that tonight Seoul would experience one of the heftiest thunderstorms of the season. However, it wasn’t until Sunggyu got home that he realized he had locked himself out with no way of getting back inside. As if the weather were some sort of indication for how his night would go, he couldn’t contact his landlord, and the shops in his areas were all closed in fear of a power outage.
Sunggyu was stranded for the night, and with nothing but a satchel in hand, decided to make his way outdoors. Perhaps it was the natural landscape that brought him comfort, but between the beeping cars and people covered by umbrellas rushing to get home, he felt surprisingly at ease. It was like he was nobody, and had no where to go, and there was something extremely freeing about that.
He made his way to the theatre beside the Han river. If not for shelter, than to admire the musical stars that slipped out of the venue and into cabs. One in particularly, Kim Kibum, was his absolute favourite, and word had got out that he was performing tonight. Sunggyu would have done anything to go, but money was so tight and seats sold out faster than wild fire. He leaned against one of the columns of the theatre, ignoring the beeping cars and rowdy crowd, and instead, admired the actor as he emerged from the indoors. Sunggyu dug his hands into his pockets and contemplated asking for an autograph, but the words did not come. Instead, he could only watch, and his jacket slipped off his shoulders ever so slightly, suddenly feelin the rain dampen his hair and cling to his neck. If only, he thought.
