In the upcoming chapter Samuel uses one of his Adept powers, "ki-powers" to disguise himself. A visual example of how the Adept Power "Melanin Control" works. "This power allows the adept to change the color of his skin and/or hair to that of another ethnicity/metatype, limited to the colors normally found in metahuman genetic expressions."

Subjugation
In the coming chapters, Samuel meets a drell named Deimos, who, like him, is an assassin and a ki adept, but is much better, faster and more agile than he is. However, he recognizes a high potential in the human adept.Â
In a repeated fight, Deimos beats him to sheer unconsciousness to show him his inferiority and force him to submit to him.Â
Deimos claims to know the reason why Samuel hardly has his powers under control and is getting weaker and weaker: it is not the implant.
