Everything was swimming before Hannah’s eyes as she entered Tammy's apartment. Exhaustion was rapidly overcoming her, and she couldn't wait to put her heavy bags of groceries down and collapse on her girlfriend’s very comfortable couch.
When she went to the couch and realized that it was already taken, however, she was slightly offended.
“Hey. Sleeping Beauty. Get up.”
She joked, poking Tammy, who was clutching a pillow to her cheek like it was a lifeline.
Hearing the other woman’s steady and deep breathing, and seeing how beautiful and peaceful Tammy looked finally sleeping, Hannah caved easily.
“Fine,” she grunted, kissing the other woman lightly on the bridge of her nose.
“But it's my turn next!”
Returning to the kitchen, Hannah took out all the little treats she had brought out, refrigerating the perishables. After she finished doing so, she pulled out a thermos of tea and, after hesitating a bit, pulled out a stick of nabat from her pocket, swirling it around in the tea to sweeten it.
Maybe the sugar will help give me energy, she thought, sipping the tea calmly.
“Hmmmm… Who’s here?!”
Tammy was instantly on guard the moment she woke up, shooting up from the couch with her pistol drawn.
Hannah raised one hand in the air, caught with the stick of nabat stuck in her mouth. She tried to speak, but the cubes of sugar were stuck in her mouth, so she could only hum in response.
“What is in your mouth, baby?”
Tammy asked, a slight humorous edge to her voice as she lowered the gun and patted the empty spot next to her on the couch, gesturing for Hannah to join her.
“Hm hm!”
Hannah hummed joyfully, practically collapsing onto the extremely comfortable and incredibly soft couch. She laid her head down on Tammy's lap immediately- taking the other agent by surprise- and pulled the sugar stick out of her mouth.
“You do know I didn't understand a word you said with that… thing… in your mouth, right?”
Tammy said, absentmindedly stroking Hannah's raven curls as she tried to force herself to not spread her body out all over the couch and fall asleep again.
A blush dyed Hannah’s tan cheeks a light sunset pink. In her exhausted state, she'd forgotten that people tend not to understand you when you have something in your mouth.
“It’s nabat! It's a sugary candy that tastes like saffron. Wanna try it?”
She angled the stick of rock candy towards Tammy, who recoiled from it as if it was a serpent.
“Saffron?”
She asked, blinking her eyes rapidly.
“Hey! It's good!”
Hannah retorted, kicking Tammy lightly in the leg.
Feeling the other woman's grip tighten on her hair, she squealed, instantly regretting her action.
“Hey! Tammy!”
The two of them wrestled each other, tangling their tall slender bodies together, for a few minutes. Tammy ended up winning, pinning the tired Hannah beneath her.
Seeing the way she was panting, her hair mussed and her face all red, Tammy felt warmth flash through her body. She wanted to ravish the other woman, make their two bodies one.
But then she looked at the clock and heard the exhausted sigh Hannah let out, and she knew that getting that passionate this late, when the woman she loved was exhausted and relying on saffron sticks- or whatever the hell she had been chewing on earlier- was a bad idea.
“Are you tired, baby?”
She asked in a low, gentle voice, trying to hide how passionate she felt at that moment.
Hannah’s eyebrows shot upwards, hearing the thinly veiled passion behind Tammy’s words. She wanted to say no, she wasn't tired, and she wanted all the love Tammy could give her. But when she opened her mouth to speak and could only respond with a yawn, she realized she couldn't hide her true feelings.
“You can sleep here. I’ll leave you alone.”
Hannah was too tired to speak, but she pulled on Tammy’s shirt sleeve insistently, urging her to stay by her side.
“You want me here? This couch is a bit small for two people.”
Hannah nodded, a sudden look of worry in her gentle brown eyes. She looked like a sad doe, and Tammy instantly curled up next to her, taking the other woman into her arms.
“What's wrong, baby?”
She asked in the softest voice she could muster.
“It's nothing… sometimes I just have nightmares, that's all.”
Hannah said that as if it was nothing important, but Tammy could hear the pain and fear hidden behind every word. She could tell that these nightmares were extremely painful, and Hannah didn't want to be left alone with her thoughts afterwards. So Tammy nuzzled close to her and held her extra tightly.
“I’ll fight the nightmares if they bother you. I'll kick ‘em in the ass and send them packing!”
She promised, and Hannah laughed.
“Thank you, my brave defender.”
Her voice was even lower when she was sleepy, a seductive murmur that made Tammy press her body against her even harder.
With one last yawn, Hannah fell asleep, her head comfortably resting on Tammy’s chest. She looked like a statue in her sleep, the very image of perfection. Not a hair out of place…
Tammy kissed her on the forehead gently and then closed her own eyes, feeling exhaustion overcoming her as well.
“You're welcome… baby.”
She whispered, before sleep took her.
