This video is part of the project 'KHAREJI'
During the Summer of 2015 Belgian I traveled to Iran where I was invited for a residency at the Paradise Art Center in Tehran and Polour. During this residency I was questioning my cultural identity and status as a foreigner. I created a Belgian ethnic farmers' costume including wooden sabots and had myself photographed at different locations throughout Iran. This video depicts my experience and the process of assembling the farmers' outfit and creating the wooden sabots.
The installation 'KHAREJI' consists of a series of collages and drawings on paper (approx.3m x 2m), a series of photographs, the assembled-in-Iran farmers' costume, sound and a video.
