KID -- DID, cPTSD, depression, anxiety, autism, ADHD, disinhibited social engagement disorder, misdiagnosed schizophrenia Kid is a boy with a lot of love in his heart, not despite but because of what happened to him as a child. He's in a semi-open relationship with Carla. Growing up, he visited various psychiatrists and therapists. He would tell them everything-- about the time loops and the "player" and the horrific deaths. Obviously this sounds genuinely psychotic, so he got put on pretty heavy antipsychotics as young as age 8. Kid hated them, and learned to lie about his symptoms in order to not get prescribed any more meds. Now he just doesn't take his current meds and lies to his doctors. Awkward! Nugget is the only one who remembers the loops. It makes Nugget wary of Kid. Kid also doesn't like how Nugget is lowkey sadistic. But they'll always be connected because of experiencing and remembering the time loops. Also he lives with the Janitor. He followed him home from school one day cause he didn't wanna go back to his foster house and it stuck for 10 years. lol..

NUGGET -- Autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, cPTSD Nugget is a strange, if not stranger person than he was in the past. The adults in his life chalk it up to him being special ed. His friends know better. Nugget often talks about forgotten prophecies and talismans and ultimate destruction. No one knows what he's talking about. Kid does. He thinks his right arm is wrong and doesn't belong on his body. This is partly due to "phantom pain" or memories from previous bad timelines (Like when he chewed off his arm in KG2 and how his arm is the first to mutate in KG3). Nugget still digs Nugget caves. He has dug into people's yards. There are elaborate tunnel systems around town because of him.

BILLY --  OSDD1a, PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD Billy is a boy who's making the best of the cards he was dealt with and is trying to get better despite everything. He loves his twin sister Lily more than anything-- she's the reason why he's still alive! She often doesn't have the energy to get properly dressed because of her own mental illnesses, so Billy matches her outfits to be like "see? It's not so bad! :D". He lowkey doesn't remember much of what happened to him, which is why he seems less bothered than the others. The worst part is the Nightmares. Also he's tinted kinda greenish as a result of being experimented on when he was five. :P

LILY -- OSDD1b, cPTSD, depression, anxiety, autism, BPD Trauma isn't a competition but if it was she'd be winning. Top 3 at least. Anyways yeah no Lily went through a lot! She went from suicidal and eating disordered to fervently rescuing kidnapped kids like it was her 9-5 all at the age of FIVE. It's impossible for her to end up normal after that. She's lowkey constantly feeling like she's not doing enough and that she already peaked in life even though the times she's referencing was when she was regularly putting herself into danger for the benefit of others. Not a good look! Enough about the past. Currently, she really does try to be better. But being in the same friend group that includes some of the people that made her life hell as a child doesn't foster a good place for healing. But it's okay! :pensive:

CINDY -- BPD, cPTSD, depression, reactive attachment disorder, histrionic personality traits Cindy's the basic mean girl that when you call her out on her shit she starts bringing up her trauma in order to make herself look like the victim. And it works. So she's really messed up obviously, but it manifests itself into being reactive and an inability to hold meaningful relationships. It's okay though! She has her friends. Somehow. Honestly their group is genuienly inseparable at this point. She's friends with Buggs, Monty, and Jerome. She's probably a pick me saying she's only friends with boys. Like saying she's "one of the guys". I'm lowkey getting sick just thinking about it 

MONTY -- OCPD, PTSD, depression Look at this nerd 😭🙏 Okay no but actually he's doing alright. He's kind of hard to become friends with because he has a prickly personality. But he's got his existing friends and it's not like he exactly Wants new friends anyways. He still Deals. More than before honestly. Good on him for that hustle tho Kindergarten 3 is canon in this universe-- He DID have Penny's parts in the past, but some of the others in the group convinced him to Bring Her Back. Monty decided it's less annoying to lose feelings in his legs than lose feelings in his arms, anyways. Especially after the goo became harder to come across.

JEROME -- PTSD, depression, depressive schizoaffective disorder Jerome's a Cool Kid!! Now I don't know anything about sports but I know he plays one. Hell Monty prolly shows up at his games and is like "Go sports ball! 🤓 I guess... Go blue team! Go red team! Throw the ball around!"  Jerome's the type of dude to start trauma dumping on a date and be like "Yeah I saw my dad's dead body... parts when I was five years old :/" to try and get the girl(or guy)(probably a girl tho) to feel bad for him and think "I can fix him". and it totally works too LMAO Jerome knows he's not cis but he worries what that'll mean for his Image. So he pushes that shizz deep down and leans hard into being masculine Him and Penny are step-siblings. He doesn't really hang out with her at school because of that. (Those who grew up with siblings at school with them know)

BUGGS -- Oppositional defiance disorder, ADHD, cPTSD Do y'all know that trope where it's a bully but as the show/game/whatever progresses, they become a Part Of The Gang and become lowkey woke? Yeah that's Buggs! One time Jerome told him that someone was picking on Nugget and he beat the guy up Lol He's still mad about a lot of things that happened as a kid and he's not the most well-adjusted person but he's taken a lot more steps to recovery than you'd've expected to! That doesn't mean he's perfect tho so stop celebrating

FELIX -- ASPD, NPD, autism, cPTSD Felix has very very very low empathy, and the love he does feel is not anywhere near the same kind of feeling that people without ASPD feel. That also explains why Felix doesn't really like anyone in their friend group despite everything that they went through. Now. The only exception to this is his twin brother Ted. He doesn't "hate" him like he did when they were five, if anything he's the only one that he "loves". But not really. It's complicated. We don't have time to unpack all of that! He's still on track to becoming heir of Applesoft. Actually he wears the Applesoft Pin I'm just now realizing I forgot to include that in his and Ted's designs holy fumble

TED -- Anxiety, cPTSD, autism, depression, dependent personality disorder, OCD Ted's gotten way better at standing up for himself over the years, but -1000+30 is still -970. He thinks Felix is right about a lot of things, but he still doesn't appreciate being talked down to and walked over just because he's the younger twin. Ted still thinks he can help Felix, though. Ted's actually really scared of losing his brother, which is a very real possibility in his mind, since he knows Felix doesn't tend to feel strong emotions towards people.  One time, when Felix was being particularly nasty towards him, Ted gave him the silent treatment for an entire five days. It was actually really hard for Ted, and he got in trouble with their dad after, but it actually scared Felix enough to not treat him so poorly afterwards. 

OZZY -- (Contamination) OCD, anxiety, ADHD, autism Instead of trauma running his life, Ozzy has the debilitating fear of germs to do so. It was apparent when he was a kid, but it got much worse as he grew up. It's not all bad, though! He finds ways to either hide it or work around it in order to not seem like a "freak" when he's out and about. He doesn't want his fear of germs to be all that he's known for (though it's a little late for that). He also still needs routine and order. Besides his OCD, Ozzy just doesn't get along with people. His mannerisms and his personality are usually a turn off for people trying to befriend him. Awkward!

CARLA -- Mild anxiety, kleptomania, trust issues Carla is genuinely the most well adjusted person in the group, which is saying something considering she regularly trespasses and steals. She’s in a semi-open relationship with Kid.  She's chill! She loves her friends and she isn't particularly unhappy with her life. She's willing to help her friends out when they need it but she knows her limits and won't involve herself in someone else's issues if she doesn't have to.

PENNY -- DPDR, PTSD, depression, anxiety, trust issues, alexithymia Penny tries to hide the fact that she's a robot so much that she decided in her head that that's the most important aspect of her life. It's like she thinks that she can manifest the metal bits out of her if she thinks hard enough. Penny still loves making friends and she loves her current friend group, even if a lot of them don't really care about her that much. :( ALSO Her and Jerome are step-siblings. They live in the same family now that their parents died. Lore drop but her mom and his dad were dating and they did not know that information until their parents died! Awkward!

YAY YOU MADE IT TO THE END!!! To clear some things up; yes KG3 is canon, anything beyond that is questionable since obv we don't know that info til the rest of the series comes out. Like, if the games end with everyone dying forreal, then. Oops. This au would just be a little more canon-divergent then :P The KG3 kids aren't in their friend group. The in-universe explanation is that they didn't click with the half of the cast that they'd met when they moved to the KG3 school. This friend group was built off the KG1 kids sticking together, then Kid being the "glue" to make the KG2 kids stay with them too (everyone loves Kid!). This didn't work with the KG3 kids because they didn't really care about their existing 13 person friend group enough to wanna join. The KG3 kids are out making their own friends-- they don't rly hang out with each other much either (save for like. Alice and Kevin. Austin kinda got over his crush with time.)
