Punch-Out!
Here is a 6-colour photopolymer plate letterpress demo print I just completed on the C&P. The image is originally a screen grab from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!, ca. 1987. This is not an internet image, BTW, but a grab taken after I beat Piston Honda on my NES emulator. But I digress.
I manually separated it into 5 spot plates, where plate 4 was printed whole, then chopped up and printed a second time in a different colour. The order was: blue, yellow, pink, cream, grey (the sidewalk section of the cream plate), and black. I learned a lot about these plates, mixing oil and rubber-based inks, as well as just how tight registration can get on a 100 year old cast iron beast.

On a related note, several of my more curious students have been watching me print this thing over the last number of days. They are amused with the image, but moreso, they seem quite interested in the level of work and investment I have in testing out these plates. It's just for a demo, after all. Well... I have a real problem with professors who believe that you can "teach anything to anyone so long as you're one step ahead of the students" and give advice like "students never know that you just learned how to do x in your garage over the weekend". The truth is, students know. There is a whole world of expertise out there on Youtube, so if you try to bullshit them, they know. And you look like a dillhole.
