A small blurb I wrote a while back from Elio's perspective, realizing he has a crush on my Fall MC, Aster, because I've been neglecting them too much^^ --------------------------------------

Had she always been this cute? Yes, that was a silly question—of course she had been—Elio has eyes, but now for some reason every time his eyes would grace over Aster he’d want to do a double take—then a triple—then a quadruple—was he being creepy? God, he hoped not. Did Aster notice? He didn’t think so—he really, really hoped she didn’t.

Tonight, the gang was hanging out at the halfpoint again after another late night homework session—if you could even call it that. It got rowdy pretty quickly, nobody could focus that well—except for Deja, Diane, and Jamie—but if nobody else was going to do their work, then there was no point.

Elio watched as Aster excitedly swung her feet off the back of Cam’s van, keeping her gaze on the night sky as everyone else broke into side conversations. Aster smiled—her smile was so sweet—he didn’t think she could get any prettier and yet in every moment that passed proved him wrong. The stars themselves were jealous of the twinkle in her eye—of the stardust that made up her very being. In this moment, he wished that she would look at him—give him that same starstruck look she was giving the stars—maybe he could wish on them—but would they even answer his call? Would they willingly give away her attention that they were so blessed to have? God, what was this feeling in his chest? The giddiness whenever he knew Aster was there—the pure happiness he’d feel when he didn’t know she’d be there and she happened to be anyway. 

Did he have a—

“Boo!” Fingers snapped in his face, nails painted with a deep and vibrant green. Elio flinched, blinking out of his trance to find Amber giggling next to him, while Diane laid propped on her elbow just a ways behind her, observing quietly.

“What’s got you looking so lovestruck, Elio?” Amber asked, though the tease in her tone hinted that she wasn’t actually asking. Elio laughed nervously, looking away as he rubbed the back of his neck.

“Lovestruck? Who’s lovestruck? Never heard of ‘em,” he said, smiling awkwardly. Amber squinted, looking at Elio then towards Aster, yet she said nothing if she suspected something—because her face said it all. The mischievous smile that crept onto her lips and the knowing glance she gave the ever stoic-looking Diane behind her. Elio blinked, words catching in his throat. Why was he so embarrassed? It’s not like there was anything weird going on, right?

“Well I heard they’re a joy to be around, but I wouldn’t know,” Amber then joked, shrugging as she relaxed her posture before letting out a soft yawn. She sat back, then laid her head on Diane’s side. The two of them silently looked at each other again, before Diane laid flat on her back for Amber’s head to rest on her stomach, going off into their own hushed whispers.

Elio let out a sigh of relief, trying to calm the strange beating of his heart, but it didn’t help that his eyes searched for Aster again—they seemed to do that a lot lately. Aster was bouncing where she sat now, humming, before she eventually jumped out of the van and stretched her arms high above her head.

“I feel like going on a run!” She exclaimed, causing Amber to blink and sit up abruptly.

“A run? Girl, it’s almost midnight,” she said through another yawn.

“So?” Elio couldn’t help but chime in, his smile matching Aster’s contagious one. Aster finally looked at him, and he swore that all the stars had gotten brighter.

“Exactly!” Aster began with a wickedly energetic look in her eye, “the night is still young,” she exclaimed, earning a warm chuckle and headshake from Deja, who was sitting at the edge of the van as well. Aster smiled back at her knowing roommate, before her gaze returned to Elio.

“Elio, would you like to—”

“You don’t even have to ask!” He couldn’t contain himself—her energy was rubbing off on him. He joined her on the ground, but just as his feet landed Aster laughed.

“Raceyouthreetwoonego!” She zoomed away from the van towards the path lit up by lamp posts.

“Oh you gotta be kidding—” Elio gasped, then immediately ran after her. The sounds of their laughter was carried away in the nighttime breeze. Elio’s cheeks warmed and his heartbeat skipped so much faster than he had ever felt before—there was a giddy feeling like stars were twinkling in his stomach—and he figured this wasn’t just from running.

Oh, he definitely had a crush.

Ren opened her mouth and paused to reconsider. Deja hadn't ever brought anyone back to the apartment, but considering her personality, she thought she preferred...

"Someone who's the complete opposite of you?" Ren said.

"Close but not quite." Deja hummed. "My type's more anyone who has their shit together. Xyx does." . . . Based on that 'Rainy day' moment.

A short blurb between my summer MC, Amber, and Jamie ice skating---or, he's trying to---at least.

“And, you won’t let go, right?” 

“Don't worry, I won’t let you fall.”

Jamie wasn't exactly against the idea of ice skating, but he wasn't ecstatic either. It was finally that time of year, and Amber thought it would make for a fun date, and who was Jamie to turn her down?

“It might help if you don't stare at your feet,” Amber chuckled, guiding him on the ice, near the fence of the outdoor rink. Jamie's eyebrows were furrowed slightly, and his familiar adorable pout rested on his lips. He held Amber's hands so tightly as if she were the very thing keeping him alive—and right now, it surely felt that way.

“I…” Jamie sighed, furrowing his eyebrows more, “okay, I'll… try.” He took a deep breath, closing his eyes and taking a long minute to open them. When he did, his eyes found hers—fixated on his with an expression he wasn't expecting. He had expected laughter, maybe even pity, but all he found was a kind, warm smile belonging to a woman who wouldn't let go—a woman who'd surely fall with him even if she had all the means to stand on her own. The twinkle in her eyes weren't just from the lights in the trees.

“See? It's not so intimidating if you just keep your eyes forward and—” 

“Look out!” A voice zoomed past the two, causing Jamie's long legs to wobble in anticipation like a newborn deerling, and his nails dug into her palms. 

“Whoa—watch where you're going!” Amber spat, taking her eyes off Jamie for one second—and like a clumsy newborn—one second was all it took for disaster. His footing gave out and he fell forward, instinctively clutching onto her shoulders. Unfortunately, Jamie was a tall tree and Amber… was not.

“Oomph—!” Amber yelped, falling hard on her ass. Jamie caught himself on his knees, yet his arms still clung to Amber's body. Their foreheads were just inches away from colliding, but luckily she had enough reflex and pull to avoid it.

“Shi—  I'm sorry, Amber, are you alright—” 

She snorted, Jamie paused.

Now she was laughing. She was laughing in his face. She couldn't stop herself. She kept laughing, snorts accompanied her burst of amusement and she reached for his face, squishing his face as she laughed even harder. Jamie's pout grew more prominent—whether from her ministrations or his own confusion was unclear—yet either way, something must have been hilarious. 

“I'm glad this is entertaining,” Jamie sighed, dryly.

“Gosh—Sorry, Jamie, I'm not laughing at you,” she paused, then snorted again, giving his cheeks a gentle pinch, “well, I am, technically. Your face is so—pffft!” 

“'So' what?”

“You're so red, jeez, and your hair's a mess—”

“Uh—”

“Yet you still look so beautiful, it's ridiculous!” 

“...that's why you're laughing?”

“Well, and because you were shaking like a newborn deer. I didn't even know you were capable of wiggling so fast!”

“Ah- I knew it! You're enjoying my misery!”

Jamie couldn’t help but smile at her enjoyment, and eventually he couldn't hold back his own laughter. Amber's sunlight was just too contagious. 

After one last attempt, they realized there was no harm in a warm night in, watching a movie and relaxing on the sofa.

One thing to note is that puppy dog eyes do not work on Jamie Porter. But the stubbornness and boredom of Elio Kealoha and Cameron Molinares knows no such bounds. And with the forces of these two together, Jamie is left powerless. . . . Christmas is right around the corner and any last-minute preparation for the small get-together in the pje household is practically done, all that's left to do can be seen located in the kitchen.
