Not nearly the first to lose their life for the Scions' cause, the woman's death still weighed heavily on the young warrior's mind — she still felt like she could have done something to prevent her death. Like so many they had lost at the Waking Sands, Moenbryda was yet another individual who gave their life freely so as to give the Scions a chance to prevail against the Ascians.
A'rhilye was not nearly so altruistic, and had struggled with her role as the Warrior of Light from the start; sheltered from harsh reality. Losing her parents in the massacre of the Waking Sands had been a brutally eye-opening revelation. No one would be spared the pain and suffering of the Ascians or the Garlean Empire. Yet, in spite of all the loss and hardship they had faced, the Scions continued to forge ahead. It was hard not to feel inspired by that, and humbled in equal measure. She had been such a terrible, selfish girl before — but that would all change. Starting now.
