Me, realizing why my idea for my alien characters to have a social structure based on eye color seems so familiar:
A bit of angsty writing about my characters inspired by this art that @gigilefache made. I need to make it longer, and I will later, but this is just a piece of when the twins got separated.
"Hey, look at me Zilly." The crying child wiped her tears with a sniff and looked up at her sister expectantly. Tetith seemed to be close to tears as well, but she held herself together as she spoke some comforting words. "No matter what happens, no matter what we go through... everything... is going to be okay. We just have to wait. And when the wait is over, we'll see each other again. And I promise... everything is gonna be alright." She then wrapped her arms around her sister for a farewell hug.
Tetith's words were mostly reassuring, but Zilly just couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible was going to happen if the two of them were separated. She hugged her twin tighter. "Please be safe... I'm going to miss you." Zilly could feel a silent nod on her shoulder in response.
A few more seconds passed before Tetith felt a large hand on her shoulder attempting to pull her away. Reluctantly, the child released her sister from the embrace, allowed herself to be cuffed, and followed the adult to the vehicle. Zilly couldn't help but resume crying as her dearest sister and best friend waved one last goodbye before being driven away to prison.
I made this running sprite of Zilly forever ago but I don’t think I posted it on tumblr! Time to fix that!

Finally writing the first chapter of Zillibeth’s story again for the first time in years.
(The last time I did chapter one, her story was still an IZ fanfic.)
