"Obi-Wan?" She hasn't seen the man in years, but she knows his face. Shmi pauses her work outside her small hut, a frown on her face that quickly turns to fear as she takes in his expression. The broom she'd been using to clean the sand from their narrow windows drops from her hands.

The dreams she had, the ones of fire and pain. They'd just been nightmares.... but nightmares that Obi-Wan's expression makes her think she's seen them too.

" ma- " they've long since moved away from days where she'd have been able to call him master kenobi the way she had a lifetime ago- back when her eyes were bright with hope and her spine didn't ache under the weight of a kingdom. she'd loved him so much, him and anakin. they'd been her family, her entire world; anakin a sun she happily orbited around and obi-wan the gentle and consistent pull of gravity. the loss of both of them had thrown her out into the cold dark space between stars.

" obi-wan, " she says instead. her hand reaches for his, careful not to disturb little leia, asleep with her head pillowed on livvy's lap. ( poor thing must be exhausted, she'd thought as she brushed fine wisps of hair from her forehead, ) his palm is warm and calloused the way it used to be when it felt so much bigger in her own, " what happened wasn't your fault; it couldn't have been, at least not completely. you didn't make him do those awful things, did you? you loved him, i know you did. i felt it every time we were together. you can't blame yourself for that love not being enough to save him. "

“   That   should   do   it...   ”      Padmé   sighs   out,   relieved   that   they   were   now   back   on   board   the   Naboo   Royal   Starship.   Everyone   had   only   just   gotten   settled   back   in,   Padmé   only   just   allowing   herself   to   sit   down,   though   she   takes   a   seat   beside   one   of   the   Jedi   who   seemed   to   be   lost   in   deep   thought. “   You   seemed   distressed   about   something,   are   you   alright   ?   ”      she   asks,   head   tilting   slightly   with   concern. :·ﾟ*•. ✶ @kenoebi  - CLOSED

it   isn't   until   the   startle   of   a   man   talking   that   din   refocuses,   but   he   feels   disoriented.         the   blaster   shots   are   not   here   anymore,   and   yet   they   still   feel   as   if   they   leave   a   ringing   in   his   ears.         for   a   moment,   din   remains.         but   the   man   had   said   it   was   safe.         holding   the   weight   of   a   foundling's   beskar   helmet,   he   peaks   his   head   out   from   behind   the   stacked   crates   and   tries   to   scope   what   was   left   of   the   war   zone.         there   was   only   a   single   figure.         eyes   dart   for   signs   of   anyone   else,   but   no.         it   was   only   him.         still   breathing   fast,   with   skittish   knees   and   a   white-knuckled   grip   on   the   blaster,   the   boy   steps   out.
