4th Dec- Food, glorious food! My dad made a mean seasonal dinner. I have no idea how but his roast potatoes were off the scale, flipping, insanely delicious. When I became a veggie (as a teen) there was very little in the way of turkey ‘replacement’ in the shops but my dad discovered a store in North London that sold Jewish chicken(less) substitute pieces in huge catering packs. Not wanting to pollute his freezer with such freaky food he would cook the lot, often 24 pieces, just for me and while he was getting them out of the oven, struggling with the general weight of the tray, would announce ‘just eat what you can’ I would insist ‘all the trimmings’ were enough for me (I’ve had many years of being totally perplexed by meat-eaters lacklustre and underwhelming response to the seasonal turkey) but dad would insist on bulking my plate out with something ‘turkeyesque’ My reason for bringing this up is; if a family member makes something delicious, write it down/ ask them to teach you how/ film it. My dads’s roasties technique has long gone with ‘Kenny Krunch’ (no one knows why he had this nickname either) but maybe what made them so special was simple: they were made by him #kennykrunch #dadsroastpotatoes #christmasmemories #christmas #christmaslooks #christmasadventcalendar #instagramadvent #leejackdesign #holidays #tistheseason #adventcalendar #rusticchristmas #christmastree #christmascountdown #christmas2018 #christmasfun #christmascheer #christmasmood #christmaslove #christmasfood #roastpotatoes https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq9RDKfl8iv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=16evbtv0xwo7h
