Kenchō Temple, Kamakura, by Kawase Hasui, 1933
cutt.ly/sJsfIYD
Old wooden statue of Kṣitigarbha at Kenchoji in Kamakura. Quite rare to find a Zen temple with the main hall hosting Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva. One of the main Zen temples in Kamakura, worth a visit. I was surprised to find a statue of Bodhidharma there, which was gifted Shaolin Temple in China!
April 3rd KAMAKURA - KENCHO-JI
A bit later than planned, I had arrived in (Kita-)Kamakura with quite an ambitious plan for the day in mind. And if I wouldn’t get too distracted, it should’ve been no problem, but...
First stop was Kencho-ji temple. The Cherry blossoms were finally starting to show itself! The rest of the temple was also really pretty, it’s just such a shame you can’t visit most of of the grounds... >_<;;
