Some thoughts on Keith
I was thinking about the narrative of Keith being an orphan/ in foster care and:Ā
I donāt know if heād have even made it into a foster home
Keith isnāt the ideal child and many children who display more "difficult behaviourā are usually the children that people donāt want in their homes. So, sadly, they get left behind.Ā
At 18 or so the system deems the children adults and thatās when he enlisted himself into the GarrisonĀ
it could even be a program that he dreamed about since he was young and gave him the freedom that he never had, an opprotunity to see the galaxy and change the world!Ā
He wanted to leave a mark and be more than just that kid nobody wanted.
Maybe there was an exam to get in and it cost a fair bit of money. Keith then had to work odd jobs to get the funds to take said exam because the orphanage wouldnāt cover it.Ā
the immense amount of pride heād feel getting accepted into the program, to having done it all himself
(but feeling sad he didnāt have anyone to share it with, really, and thinks about what his family might have said if he had any)
The determination, the risk taking, the wanting to be more than what he is
and then feeling like nothing when he gets kicked out.

can there be an AU where Keith is walking back to the orphanage by himself, kicking at the pebbles in the road with his warn out shoes, and all of a sudden he hears Lance laugh while holding his momās hand and walking home which makes Keith really jealous.Ā
