It was horrible. So vivid, but still horrible.
The league of villains deciding to strike during class, her and Eijirou getting separated from the others during the confusion and then bumping into a villain… What else was she supposed to do if…he charged at the villain just like that?
But what’s a battle without some form of casualty?
“ Kirishima-chan! ” A startled yell somehow managed to leaver her throat as she shot up violently. She looked over her surroundings. The familiar shelves, and the night lamp that was currently off, and of course the certain warmth, everything she knew so well was here – it was just her dorm room. But despite exhaling heavily, she still felt a strange nagging at her throat and her chest. With a bit of hesitation, she stepped out of the bed and glanced at the frog-themed clock hanging on the wall. It was just a bit past 4 am. Everyone should’ve been asleep, but if she didn’t leave, she knew the stingy nagging wouldn’t stop.
Tsuyu opened and closed her dorm room as quietly as she could ( who knew, someone might’ve been a light sleeper ) and skid to the floor below the one her room was in, until she was quickly in front of Eijirou’s door. She didn’t want to wake him, but before she could fully comprehend what she was doing, her hand was already forming a fist that was banging on the door as lightly as it could.
And thank god he opened the door, because otherwise she would’ve worried all night.
And maybe it was just a stupid nightmare caused by her own paranoia, especially after the training camp and Kamino Ward incidents, maybe the giant wave of relief shouldn’t have been so big after seeing him standing there and looking…okay. Definitely, it was definitely too big – considering the relieved tears were spilling without a stop.
All of her previous hesitation was gone and she stepped towards him, letting her arms wrap around him in a gentle and almost desperate embrace. She probably confused the hell out of him, but she didn’t care. He was here and…and she could even hear his heart beating.
“ You’re okay, Kirishima-chan. I’m so happy. ” She muttered, sniffling just a little bit. She probably shouldn’t have even been here at this hour, but just a moment. She needed just one more moment with him.
1-A had been attacked by the League of Villains so often by now, but fortunately Kirishima could still count the amount of times on one hand. Even so, it was still just way too much - especially if one would take into consideration that every single attack so far had been during their first semester.
He didn’t doubt one bit that many of his classmates had nightmares, maybe even all of them, even he had them.
Kirishima hadn’t been sleeping - couldn’t - the bruises he’d received from the last incident despite his hardening quirk were keeping him awake. He had refused Recovery Girl’s aid, they were just bruises after all - something that minor wasn’t worth anyone’s time; he wasn’t worth anyone’s time.
The knock at his door, albeit almost too quiet for him to even hear it at first, surprised him and Kirishima took a moment, perhaps one too long, to stand up and move towards his door to open it. He was surprised to see Tsuyu on the other side of the door, though that was short-lived and replaced with worry when he saw the tears forming and spilling without pause.
He didn’t really have time to ask her what was wrong before her arms wrapped around him in what could only be called desperate - Kirishima didn’t mind. Not one bit. His arms automatically moved around her, holding her close as his worry only seemed to grow.
It seemed like he wasn’t the only one unable to sleep. Sure, he was shocked to see Tsuyu here at this hour - what time was it anyway? - but her words told him all he needed to know about why she was here.
“Tsu-chan...” After a rather long moment, Kirishima pulled away slightly and moved a hand up to Tsuyu’s face, gently wiping away the remainder of the tears in her eyes. He had to be strong! He had to! For her - for everyone. He would be strong, he had to be.
“You know I won’t go down that easily, Tsu-chan!” He gave her a small grin, though even he could tell that his own grin was far from truly convincing, so he just let it slowly dissipate. He was quiet for a few seconds, before cheering up again.
“I’ll take all the hits I can take, and then some, to make sure that nothing happens to you - to anyone! That’s what being a hero is all about, right?!” This time the smile that slowly spread onto his features was a genuine one, and Kirishima hoped that he could reassure Tsuyu with it.
“As long as somebody is in need of protection, I’ll never break!”
