This is the beautiful Barnes Hiscock Mansion located on James Street. It has a deep, rich history that not many people know about. How about the fact it was built in 1853? That is 8 years BEFORE the Civil War. That's 28 years before electricity was first used! The Mansion was the home of George & Rebecca Barnes, ardent abolitionists who fought extremely hard to end slavery. The Mansion is now on the register of Historic Places and Part of the Underground Railroad. We as a community are so lucky to still have this piece of history we can tour.
