Meet and Greet || Steven & Zinnia
keeperofdraconid:
Zinnia made a face vaguely reminiscent of smelling something incredibly unpleasant. She didn’t like this Steven, so willing to set aside past occurrences in the interest of fresh starts and politeness.
“One would remember the one who set them straight; after all my rude rambling and all.”
Fair enough. Zinnia could, at least, appreciate when someone admitted that they were wrong, even if that very admission, and the way Steven went about it, annoyed her even more. He was just so nice.  It was unnerving to her.
“Well, I would hope so. That’s the point of embarrassing someone in a public forum, after all!”
She chuckled, trying to wind herself back down. There was no need to be so on-edge. Not everyone had an agenda, not everyone had ulterior motives.
"Some business came up with an old friend of mine, Wallace, he’s well known as the Gym Leader in this city," … ”He requested my approval of something and since I was here and the day was just gorgeous, I decided to take a jump in the lake."Â
Steven reminded her of a man-child. That was it. An incredibly courteous, polite man-child. This was the person Mossdeep had entrusted with the plan to save the world from a meteor?  The Pokémon League could be so strange, sometimes.
“Don’t breathe a word to the elders, though…It doesn’t live up to my name.”
It doesn’t.
“And you, Miss Zinnia, what brings you to Sootopolis? Don’t tell me you found the attraction of the sun inviting also?”
She leaned back and closed her eyes, basking in the sunlight for a moment. It certainly was nice and warm - thankfully, not in the unbearable manner that it could be, sometimes. She briefly imagined joining Team Magma instead, inflicting the pain of endless, horribly bright sunlight on the region. Horrible. Simply horrible.
“No-o-o-o-o, I’m just here to gaze upon this precious world we have here, Champ. This tree…it stands for a lot of things, don’t you think? The beauty and power of nature. The ignorance of man. The plight of Pokémon in this world.”
Her eyes locked on the distinctive red flower. Â
“Imagine if we inflicted that pain on the world again.”
She was on edge, ready to strike whenever she deemed fit. Zinnia was self conscious of herself which held a stifled laugh at the back of Steven's throat. This reaction was very common towards him whenever people felt the suffocating air that constantly surrounded the bountiful heir. Not that it was a trait he was proud of.
