i think my favorite thing about severance after watching s02 is the way it shows we're more than just a set of innate characteristics. we're the sum of our lived experiences. we carry all of our memories with us, and they weigh us down sometimes, but they keep us afloat when we need it too. that post that went around a while back kept popping up in my head while watching s02, about how mark deep down is kind and gentle but grief turns him into an asshole etc especially after the last episode, since they spelled it out for us. dylan g is confident and self-assured and witty; his outie, on the other hand, never felt confident about himself. and that's the most brilliant thing to me about this show, how for those characters nurture could and did override nature, how the things they did and experienced and lived through changed them so intrinsically, affecting the way they see the world and themselves. really love that.
