#ok this has been my ultimate sid pov song for aaaages and i FINALLY got it together to make the video. i'm so happy with how it turned out!#some minor director's commentary: i wanted the first repeat of the chorus to be sid strongly believing what he was saying #really thinking it will be easier for them both if they're apart‚ and leaving eugene behind pretty definitively on pavuvu #and then he has his moment with dr and mrs sledge where he realizes huh maybe that is NOT actually true #and then the second repeat of the chorus is him still telling himself that and forging forward #(i.e. marrying mary and encouraging eugene to forget the war)#but not really believing it the second time around. or at least realizing it's maybe not realistic #so we see some hesitation: sid going after eugene for once‚ him hesitating and looking back when he goes to leave‚ etc #to be clear he does still stick to it. there are just some cracks >:)#hbowaredit #hbowarsteal #hbowarvids #the pacific #thepacificedit #eugene sledge #sid phillips #sidsledge #kbsd.amv #kbsd.hbow #kbsd.tp
