he’s  shy  to  ask  them  to  listen  to  his  song  ,  but  there’s  something  about  it  that  doesn’t  quite  click  right  that  he  can’t  name  .  tentative  taps  to  their  shoulder  ,  and  he  pushes  his  laptop  a  little  closer  (  but  he’s  still  holding  onto  it  ,  still  holding  on  in  case  he  chickens  out  and  wants  to  keep  everything  behind  walls  again  )  .  ‘  um  ,  so  ,  ‘  he  starts  ,  ‘  i’ve  been  working  on  a  song  and  it  sounds  a  little  off  .  ‘  the  request  is  unspoken  ,  just  another  nudge  of  his  laptop  .  ‘it’s  okay  if  you’re  busy  ,  though  .  ‘

                    her request catches him off-guard. it’s enough of a shock to make jihoon pause in the middle of pulling his jacket on, his heart foolishly skipping a beat as he meets sooji’s gaze directly. his mind blanks for a good second, captivated, drowning in the dark pools staring back at him, before he’s able to look away at last. jihoon plays it off with an exaggerated sigh, but he knows before he even opens his mouth that there’s no denying sooji of his presence.

                    he likes her too much.

                  “ alright. ” the smile that curves along his full lips appears all too easily, just for her. “ but you better be prepared to deal with my snoring. it’s HORRENDOUS. ” it isn’t; jihoon just wants to see her return his smile.

                    his jacket returns to the coat rack, and he returns to the couch beside sooji, immediately suggesting they watch some horror film one of the bar’s regulars wouldn’t shut up about. and it’s nice even if it’s difficult, too. it’s enough even if neither of them will acknowledge why sooji asked him to stay and why jihoon agreed.
