“Der Brandt hat wieder ein Theater gemacht. Der hat mich richtig vermisst.” Brandt made a huge fuss again. I think he really missed me.

Did you miss me, that’s what he wants to ask, what he thinks Marc would be able to read in his lighthearted tone and his searching eyes if he actually did. Miss him, that is. And he wants Marc to ask him where he had been, what he had done during the time that he had been absent from the academy; taking a sabbatical from everything related to Marc to forget about the warmth of his eyes and to teach his heart how to slow down, how to feel numb, how to play dead instead of jumping into his throat every time Marc’s fingers grazed his bare skin or his gaze lingered on his mouth too long. The leave of absence was a total failure though, if all he wanted at that moment was for Marc to care about him enough to ask him where the fuck he had been all this time.

But Marc is barely the caring type. And the thought burns through his mind like the end of a lit cigarette against his lips.

He has always been too slow to drop the cigarette butt in time. Or maybe, he just likes to get burned.

“Man sieht sich.” See you around.

He doesn’t even bother to think if this was a good idea, coming back to Marc, seeing him around all day long. He knows it’s not. But then again, when was the last time Kay made a wise decision that could actually improve his lot in life?

Right. Back to square one.

June 29th, 2017: “Sense8” is brought back from the dead to let us witness the rescuing of “Wolfgang Bogdanow”.

June 30th, 2017: Marriage equality becomes the law of the land in Deutschland (Germany), and e-mails are sent out with confirmation that a sequel to Freier Fall (Free Fall), in which, “Marc Borgmann” and “Kay Engel” will be reunited (again, please, go here, via the official IndieGoGo campaign, and contribute to make sure that it’s well-funded), is definitely being made with the writing process starting forthwith.

… It was a good past two days to be a German who loves love or - you know - just Max Riemelt in particular.

I watched Freier Fall a few months ago, and I fell in love with it. I have been watching the movie over and over again, because Kay’s silence is stifling. We get to see Marc’s life, listen to his words, but we never know what’s really going on inside Kay’s head. So, I kept watching and watching and trying to guess at Kay’s thoughts just by looking at his expression; trying to hear the words he does not speak, trying to figure out the reasons behind the things he does.

I also read on some threads that some people think Kay’s advances on Marc should be considered sexual harassment, but I don’t think they have been paying attention to the sutble narrative that was going on beneath Marc’s aggressive rejections and Kay’s patient attempts at ridding Marc of his pretence, at making Marc see his true feelings in the face of his fears and insecurities.

So I put my thoughts into words, and I’m going to post each part here: Freier Fall told through Kay Engel’s point of view, no additional dialogs added, no additional scenes...just Kay’s thoughts and his silent suffering.

I waited for the original to be released after becoming obsessed with just the trailer, and, taking the open-ended ending with a grain of salt, it more than delivered, so this is literally dream come true!
