This playlist will probably be longer than the others since they have an actual history. My music knowledge and tastes are wide and encompassing so there's not particular genre. Also, I'm much older than the normal demographic so my tastes are not for everyone. As always with my playlists they will be LONG and continually grow as time goes on.

G's playlist was interesting for me to try to figure out since I head canon their relationship as starting out a purely physical, drama filled mess and then into something more (without either one of them intending it to be).

Goin’ w/Merit and Katiah, who are on two Different ends of the chaotic bastard scale in Modern AUs 

2. how is their social media presence?

Merit: It’s Existent. Kind of. It’s mostly cryptid-like videos of wild nights and things mixed with #Aesthetic photos of makeup/outfits/scenery, etc. Hard to parse any personal, written down info from his account(s) though. Some videos regarding fashion tips sometimes, etc. Some memes he finds funny. 

Katiah: I still like that idea of her making Unraveled-esque videos but for mythology or similar, but maybe not on behalf of a company like Polygon. A passion project? Or a small project w/a resident library/college that went viral? Hard to say. But beyond that, Kat’s social media presence would include a variety of strong commentary on archaic topics only half of her followers can parse. 

5. top five favourite things not available in their canon verse.

Merit: Glitter, digital collections of music, tattoos (which are Canon, but suuuper unlikely for Merit there, but not here) a Vast Variety of weird fashion & art (I’m counting as two things) 

Katiah: eBooks, energy drinks, just the vast amount of info to be learned between classes and deep google dives, specialized sunglasses (which she basically has to make herself in canon), 24 hour convenience stores 

7. one example of a significant change in their backstory now that the world’s changed.

Merit: Merit being a basically criminal. In a Modern+Magic AU, Merit started out looking in the City for his father, and then got entangled w/a subsection o the Summer Court who actually adapted to modernity, including Kilan who still takes Merit as a Warlock who’s entrusted w/Things. w/out the Magic parts meanwhile, Merit may have still been looking for Dad Brightwood, but amidst failing out of a college he didn’t quite want to go to, and starts going askew to illicit dealings for Kilan. 

Katiah: I haven’t done as deep a dive into Katiah’s being in a Modern AU, but off the top of my head, Kat goes from already a known scholar in various fields, to a worn out student still working on her scholarly degrees. It’s more because a matter of years. 

8. describe their closet.

Merit: A fun mix of his day looks being that “flowy hipster, light shirt and shorts/pants and brimmed hats” looks, and these bright, oft patterned colors contrasted w/black, and gold jewelry for at night. Something mixed inbetween. Lots of button ups in a variety of colors, light blue jeans a dark leather pants, leather boots of various colors and heights, many dresses. (the art is old, but god, I still love the Mod AU Look I drew him.)

Katiah: Tired Gay mixed w/sharp formal wear. Ripped jeans, sweaters, tall boots, many pairs of sunglasses to match her accented colors that day, leather jackets. Has both suits and art deco-inspired dresses in there somewhere, for Occasions. 

12. name a few of their favourite pieces of popular culture.

Merit: Musicals, reality TV and ironically (or unironically) watching it, the rise of those stim videos of mixing paint

3. Have they ever lost a loved one? What happened to them, and are they the same as they were before they lost them?

Merit: Not especially, shy of his father Aleron going missing, but not gone. Presumably. There was a friend Merit had and liked a lot that he kind-of-but-didn’t lose too, they’re still alive but [redacted] happened and they’re not who they were, and Merit is haunted by it, much more wary of the Lords of Court from it. 

Katiah: No, but also, yes, kind of...? Katiah was raised by dwarves instead of fellow dark elves, a baby who lost a family she doesn’t remember, a whole different life that could have been for her. She doesn’t know how to mourn those she never really knew, and she’s not faced any significant losses while living w/the Thorin family. 

19. What is your character insecure about?

Merit: Not being human nor fae enough for either realm, people’s perceptions around that and him, has quite a bit of an inferiority complex overall. 

Katiah: Most anything Elvish, everything she ever works on as she’s a Perfectionist. 

30. What makes them feel safe or secure? What makes them feel insecure or unsafe?

Merit: Answered! 

Merit walks with a grace, not unlike a cat’s, if a bit swaying. Beautiful or at least distracting by design, as a lot of Merit just is, and often accompanied by broad motions of his hands moving as he speaks. It changes depending on season of course; meeker and stiffer and sadder as Winter approaches. 

Séraphine’s steps are light and careful, that of a dancer’s, or a trespasser’s, trying not to interrupt the flow of everything around her. She makes conscious efforts to not hunch her shoulders up in worry, to remember she’s allowed to take up space.  

Katiah is quick and purposeful. Her gait is fast, making up for her shorter stature. She has to actively remember to keep her back straight though, too many days spent reading behind a desk.

7. What element would your OC be?

Merit: Ohh... the obvious one-to-one is Earth, but it doesn’t actually fit Merit, I don’t think. I think more of Air as an element to fit him, though I couldn’t guarantee why. 

Katiah: I want to say Fire, all bright spark and burning passion and all. Earth is also possible, but it also feels on the nose for the dwarf-raised drow. 

Zekiel: Also Fire, because although it’s obvious to say for him as a scourge aasimar, it’s also very fitting anyways. 

15. If your OC could have any pet, what would they choose? Why?

Merit: A fox, as his favorite animal to witness and one of the favorites to interact with. He’s maybe seen a psuedodragon before in Court and would love interacting w/one, however he currently doesn’t know much/anything abt them. 

Katiah: A well-trained raven or hound, for usefulness as well as cuddles and shenanigans. Or a flying snake, which she’s heard of but has yet to see and she wants to see them badly.

Zekiel: A lion maybe? Which feels too on point because 1) circus man 2) I liken Z to a lion once in awhile, but out of the beasts he’s probably seen and knows about? A lion fits, and it’d kick ass to befriend one and let it also maul a guy’s face off. 

40. Your character is getting ready for a night out. Where are they going? What do they wear? Who will they be with?

Merit: A night out for celebration and drinks, with his party, and wearing probably a variant of his usual vest/poofy shirt/tight pants, but how much more fancy and accessorized it is depends on where exactly they’re going, or just Merit’s mood at the time. 

Katiah: Out on some official ball or professional meeting as a representative of her Guild, likely with guildmates, and wearing nicer jewelry and fine dark blue and cyan colored clothing, both robes and jewels very art deco Dwarven in design influence.  

Zekiel: Not unlike Merit, likely for drinks and partying at some tavern somewhere, with at least Yulia and likely some others from the troupe, and wearing some clothes that are simple on their own but increased with various smudged paints and gleaming headband and few rings like he has, some beautiful and mildly disconcerting paint designs on his face. 

43. What was the most offensive thing your character had ever said?

Merit: I’m sure there’s been something worse he’s said in-game, but all I can think of is like early on, in one of the first visits to a city we ever made, I remember someone getting distracted by s/t shiny in a shop, and Merit stopping them and being like “Come along now, there’s more, even shinier things elsewhere.” in front of the shopkeep. 

Katiah: Hmmm, I’m not sure exactly, but she’s... rather blunt, so even if her words aren’t offensive, they can sound a bit biting.
