A Week Away “I love you.”
Will walked out his cabin with George still snoring at his bed. Will took a deep breath and started to find David, Avery’s dad. Will and Avery have been doing lost distance for quite a year now. But they’re still not official boyfriend and girlfriend. They may have called each other dear or babe, but Will haven’t properly asked her to be his girlfriend. Two weeks ago, he was going to ask to, when they were facetiming each other. Then he recalled his dad reminding him that when he found the girl he wants to marry, Will has to ask for her hand... from her father. Will can sense he’s palpitating and beads of sweat were in his forehead even though the air is nothing but refreshing breeze.
“You got this, Will, you got this.” Will murmured when he felt two soft hands covering his eyes.
“Guess, who it is?” He heard a sweet voice go. Will smiled to himself because he know it’s Avery. Even if he can’t see her, Will memorized her voice from the moment he saw her.
Will chuckled and decided to play this game, “Hmm, this girl is charming?” He asked.
“Sure.” Avery answered, giggling to herself.
Will put his hand under his chin to foreplay him thinking, “This girl loves Jesus?” Will asked.
“Definitely.” Avery replied.
“This girl is beautiful.” Will said, he knew it’s not a question but he also knew Avery will doubt.
“I don’t think so.” Avery whispered.
Will shook his head and turned around. He carefully took off Avery’s hands and he held it close to his heart tightly. “Well, I know so.” He decided. Avery smiled warmly at him, she always knew Will loved her smile. It wasn’t even a question.
“So where are you going?” Avery asked as she wrapped her arms around Will.
Will played with her hair nervously, “Um, I was going to buy George some new shorts. Dinosaur ones.” Will said as his heart was pumping like crazy.
Avery looked puzzled as she looked at Will, “Dinosaur?” She asked doubtingly.
“Pssh, dinosaurs. George loves those thingies.” Will said anxiously.
“Oh, well-,” Avery was cut off when Pressley called her.
“Oops, got to go.” Avery said as she gave Will a final hug.
She was already in between the path when she turned back and smiled at Will, “I love you but Jesus loves you more.” She said as she walked down the path again.
Will felt his mouth form a smile. He was definitely going to marry this girl, someday.
