#1 Kaoss Walker Kaoss is known for his distinctive "soft metal" style, very melodic and pretty and not extremely aggressive, but still very metal. His more aggressive pieces have a clear metalcore influence. He is also known for mixing in electronic elements as well. Most of his works are instrumental, but he has a few vocal songs as well. Spotlight Song: Why Must the Good Die Young?

This short, emotional piece was created for the Kiki Tribute and was were I found out him. Starting with a brief keyboard melody to set the mood, the piece soon moves into electric guitars and gradually builds in intensity until he reaches a climax like any good ballad. Now, this doesn't sound like your typical power ballad, being a melancholic instrumental at a slightly faster tempo, making it a good example of his soft metal style.

#2 ShinZm If you are liking for something that's still melodic, but a bit heavier, ShinZm might just just be your man. Making both bass music and metal, he's got aggressive music covered. As can seen in this collab with Secret Metal  his metal is usually somewhere in the realm of Melodic Death Metal, but even his Symphonic Metal is brutal. He had a dearth of pony music for nearly a year, but he has recently returned. Spotlight Song: Empyrean Flux

Most his songs seem to swap between technical passages and melodic ones, but this one manages to balance brutality and melody through the course of the song. After a brief breakdown comes one of the best guitar solos I've heard in brony music. I believe this is the only song which features his vocals, distorted to create a unique sounding scream, and I hope to hear more of it in the future.

#3 Secret Metal I mentioned him in the last paragraph, but he really needs a spotlight of his own. Hailing from Finland, the land of metal, comes Secret Metal from the Abyss, lord of all sorts of Pony Metal. He has only released a handful of songs, but all of them have been fantastic. I can't really describe his style as he has really stuck to any, doing Glam Metal, Progressive Metal, Groove Metal, and more. If anything ties his works together it's his accented baritone/bass, deep and compelling, allowing for both clean singing and powerful growls. Spotlight Song: Elements

After five years (yes, a pony song which is older than ponies) this symphonic epic was born. Choosing a theme to match it's epicness, this song is about ALL the elements and their epic battle with Nightmare Moon, starting their epic quest in Ponyville. Let me tell you, the song manages to deliver on all that epic.

 #4 Among the Herd For those of you into metalcore, Among the Herd is one of those raising artists you should pay attention too. Featuring good production, sweet guitarwork, and catchy choruses, his has everything to look for in metalcore. He has also shown willingness experiment with in the genre, such trying out Electricore and Deathcore. Despite being metalcore some of his songs have pretty cool solos as well  Spotlight Song: Earning Your Wings

Aside from his deathcore song, this might be his most brutal piece, featuring aggressive drumming and pounding riffs. However, it's not just brutality, featuring his usual melodic choruses, this one being one of his best, and stands above his other songs about Rainbow Dash. Definatly a song worth checking out.

#5 Skelius Mortalis Another instrumental musician, Skelius stands out for his Pink Floyd influence, often with more focus on melody and atmosphere than brutality. This makes his typical song resemble a guitar solo. In fact he provided the guitar solo for Psychgoth's New Wave hit Spirit of Fire. And yes, he does do metal. Spotlight Song: Will of the Winged
