So Green’s just turned thirteen and Red’s about to and because Green is thirteen he hasn’t thought ahead yet, hasn’t even thought about Red’s birthday yet but he’s thought about this and Red just... stands there, staring down at his hands, at the cut out paper heart with its frilly edges, its red glitter pen. Green worked hard on it, he’s proud, or. He was, at least.

“What?” Green asks, impatient, jittery, foot tapping. “Don’t just--fucking stare at it.” Say something. Red doesn’t, not even with his eyes, and Green can’t stand it. His hands twitch. He switches to sign language without thinking about it, as if that might garner a response from Red.

for the 1st song AKA the Flint and Volk one, I imagine them longing to go back to when they were kids, when things were simpler and they were always together, side by side. since they don’t see each other as often now.
