Yuri was getting desperate. Ever since he began training in Japan and unable to return to his home ring in Russia, it had been one struggle after another. Now that he was legally an adult and not under his guardian’s care, nor did he have any real family anymore he can rely on, he was on his own.
Yuri immediately started searching for a new coach after Yakov and Victor had officially retired, and not one of them could handle Yuri’s feistiness and temper. He was about to give up hope until someone had answered his ad. “Suguru Kamoshida? That name sounds familiar...”
Of course, upon a quick internet search, he was instantly exposed to artical after article about his scandal at Shujin Academy. Any smart person would have instantly rejected him. He might as well kiss his figure skating career goodbye if he as much as be seen with a registered sex offender and abuser. No sponsors would want to work with him if he decides to go through with this deal.
So, why even consider him? The man was an Olympic gold medalist and had an amazing track record of coaching winning teams. He would be dumb not to at least consider him? As fellow athlete, he knew exactly what it took to win. Also, if the rumors were true about the Phantom Thieves changing his heart, he wouldn’t do anything to get himself thrown in jail again, right?
There was also the fact that he wasn’t even a figure skating coach, but a volleyball coach. While he was hoping he was more knowledgeable on the sport, he could fill him in on those details if he decides to hire him. I mean, all he had to do was represent him at competitions and maybe help him come up with a better training regime. Right?
After making the proper arrangements with his current parole officer, he decided to let him come coach him for a day and see if this arrangement was going to work.
Yuri anxiously waited for Kamoshida to arrive at the rink. He had arrived a bit early to warm up and go over some new cherography he was working on for a new program, landing several difficult axles and lutzes.
