Whilst sitting next to Kanga Pan one afternoon a few days ago, a heard of elephants came rushing our from the nearby woodland. They were so incredibly thirsty after a long day out feeding & excitement then typically gets the better of them. They’ll start running faster & faster the closer they get to the water. To be THIS close to them as they run past is extraordinary! It’s a special moment that I got to share with @lindseymunropics & my other @wildeyesa guests, one to remember! This monstrosity is a water scorpion, and this particular individual was a good 12cm (5") long. Despite their name, they're insects, not scorpions, and despite their fearsome appearance they're quite harmless. They live in bodies of water where they prey on other insects. Here at #KangaCamp there's an incredible waterhole right in front of the camp.
