Here are some Maglor thoughts (aka how I portray him)
Yes, I totally like to envision him as the mom among the brothers & the gentle hearted, tragic artist, HOWEVER let's not forget that he won the kinslaying bingo. No one dragged him to Doriath or Sirion. He made those choices himself.
For all his guilt and sorrow, he will die on the hill that everyone who refused to surrender the Silmarils were WRONG and forced his hand.
That all aside, he's an arrogant, condescending prick sometimes. I mean, he's the second son of Feanor. He's ROYALTY and commands armies. Also, he probably considers himself several tiers above non-noldor elves :))) fuck you thingol

Maglor enjoyers, I would appreciate your opinions about when he got married during the Valinor years:
Was the first to get married of his siblings, children either were a 'eh, later' or a 'no, thanks'. He had a superlative time while married, until an Event of Your Choosing ruined that.
Was the first to get married, but had a terrible time married. Same attitude towards children.
Was the last to get married of the FinwΓ«an cousins, and he had a 00s rock star marriage where they were married for what elves would consider a very short time, until an Event of Your Choosing drew them apart.

I think my funniest take on maglor is when I imagine him as a morose waif well before anything bad ever happened to him. He was the emo kid with his preppy family. He was well known for writing laments in the middle of valinor, a place that's notoriously lamentless. There was a whole year in which he refused to speak unless it was in poem or song. There was an even longer period of time in which he refused to put his hair up or wear any adornments when performing because it apparently distracted from the musicβhe'd just roll into concerts looking like the grudge but kept being invited onstage because he was just that good. I need him to be maedhros and celegorm's (admittedly incredibly talented) loser brother that gets dragged out with them because they adore him.
