“More mail?”
Mina placed the letter into Halayn’s outstretched palm and then tapped her finger to the seal.
“Lord Dawnlight, if I’m remembering correctly.” She adopted a very cheeky smile as she retracted her hand and smoothed her skirt where she stood before the divan. It only took Halayn a quick shift forward and a curl of arm around her waist to pull her back into his lap as a hostage.
“What’s that look for? You’ve been eavesdropping, haven’t you?” he accused while he wore a look of amusement.
“I don’t know what you are talking about!” she proclaimed with toss of her head and a persistent smile as she eyed the unopened letter in Halayn’s hand.
He handed the letter to her and murmured, “Always in my damn business.”
She shifted off of his lap as she unfurled the letter and settled at his side to read it.
Hal,
It pains me to inform you that I have had some troubles and while I have been attempting to take care of my arm, it has been shifted a bit and injured a bit further. Normally I would wish to invite you to my home on better terms, I might need your healing services. I would offer food and wine in recompense for your time.
Lord Kalyndris Dawnlight (written by Bren)
“Poor thing... hurting himself just to see you again,” Mina uttered in an airy and wistful manner.
Halayn laughed and took the letter from her. “Don’t be so dramatic. No one does that.”
He folded the letter and set it atop the arm of the divan and then rose into a stretch.
